HAVE A LAUGH

As long as our good neighbors send us these jokes we will post the best, and below is our choice for February.

*********

TAXI DRIVER

A passenger in a taxi leaned forward to ask the driver a question and tapped him on the shoulder.

The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus and then drove up over the curb.

For a few moments everything was silent in the cab, and then the still shaking driver said, "I'm sorry, but you scared the daylights out of me."

The frightened passenger apologized to the driver, and said he hadn't realized a mere tap on the shoulder would frighten him so much.

The driver replied, "No, no, I'm sorry, it's entirely my fault.....

Today is my first day driving a cab... I've been driving a hearse for the last  23 years..."

PULTE STOCK

Wow look at  the way this investment has gone.

We purchased our builders stock at a low $6.42 per share. A meager investment that now has a big smile on my face.

Last look the stock closed at $20.24.    That is green for sure.

BIRTHDAY GIRL

(Please stay inside the airplane at all times)

I remembered all by myself.

It is our daughter "number four's" date of birth today. I know it because I was there, and I still recall that first wink and bubble.

Twenty-five years old. Wow. Time flies.

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDY

VIZCAYA VISIT

Villa Vizcaya  is in Miami. It was the target of our last adventure. We found it on Biscayne Bay this past Monday.

Th Home and Gardens have been featured in TV Shows as well as Movies. It also was a location for Bride Magazines.

The mansion was built in the early 1900's and used pieces of history from France, Italy and other points of interest.

On the outside the Gardens were magnificent. Beautiful flowers and plants mixed with green lawns and fountains. The "Old Guy" even found a young lady set to be a cover star for a magazine in her future.

A"Steak and Lobster Tail" at the end of the day put the finishing touches on another great adventure.

NUTTY KID

We like to go to the Safari in Animal Kingdom often. It is fun to get in the wagon and drive through the jungle. I get pictures all the time of the animals. All it takes is 15 minutes of rough driving.

My daughter, the wild child, has to "out do" me so she went on her own safari in Africa, She sent us this picture a few days ago with a promise to send more.

Disney is safer kiddo !!!

BRIAN ROMAN SHOW

On Saturday Night (March 23) we attended a dinner show featuring Brian Roman at Town Center. We had a great table directly in front of the stage. We sat with several neighbors from our street which made the night even more fun.

The evening started with a chicken and fish entree followed by a fine dessert. During the eating each table had the pleasure of having Mr Roman come to them and thank them for attending. It was a nice touch.

After the food was gone the show started promptly at 7:00PM and our star sang for two hours. He did a fine selection of songs from artiste we grew up loving: Elvis, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, etc etc.

It would be very nice to see Brian Roman again in a year or maybe two. This was a good night out.

RIVERSIDE AT DISNEY

Disney is always fun.

We try, while we can, to go three - four times a year. This time we stayed at Riverside.

It is a somewhat quiet hotel in "Port Orleans."  From it you can walk to their center and enjoy the view of the old river that flows by, or take a boat to Disney Downtown.

Once Downtown we had a thought about taking a balloon ride. It gets a great view, but we had to go eat. That is always fun too.

Of course we had to see the Flower Show and some action in the other parks. Some guy stood on top of a building and offered us his protection. That is him pictured above.

In Hollywood Studios we saw some real action. They seem to like burning things. I have seen this airplane burned up at least a few times, and the guy in the fire is making a career out of his stunt burning.

FIRST RESPONDER DOES HIS JOB !!!

The story is the guy in the truck dropped his cigarette in some gasoline which ran back to the tanker truck and exploded.

The "Old Guy" was sitting real close. He has been CERT trained to handle this type of emergency. According to his report he dumped "a little water" on the truck. Problem solved!  Only the truck apparently explodes every hour and is part of the show.

At least he got a decent picture to share with us. It is from his favorite place - Disney. Enjoy the picture.

DISNEY TRIP SET

There is something about a bargain, but the Hotel above looks a little shaky.

The  Price is affordable but we will have to ride that darn elevator to the top floor, and then settle for a view of the parking lot. Nonetheless it is Disney, and My Queen and I like the place.

In addition to a nice price we get our neighbor to take care of doing the blog.  That is for FREE.  What could be better.

KOWIACHOBEE - 2013

Not quite a year since the last visit, but  KIWIACHOBEE is always nice.

This time we took our daughter, and even let her drive. We got there in five minutes, allowing a pit stop for directions.

This year our guide was the owner of the facility. He gave us  a great tour, especially with the big Cats. His helper actually got too close and got a scratch for his goof.

We managed to get  a ton of pictures to share with everyone. Hope you like them.

GATE TO PARADISE REVISITED

The "post below" was one of the first published on this blog. It (the blog) will soon be five years old.

We will take a peek at our history with this initial story, and  a couple more 'oldies' during 2013.

Note the original picture using the Kodak Brownie 120 (not really).

The "Old Guy" now has a better camera, and has been using it to promote a sense of community through sharing photos with friends and neighbors on this blog

We still like the last sentence of the original story as it still holds true today. (Read Reprint below):

"This is the gate to our paradise. Roughly 1200  (Now 1600) Home Owners live here. For the most part it is a good experience to go through this gate. Straight ahead is Town Center. This is the hub of our community. It is surrounded on all sides by what we call "home." We are all neighbors, but that doesn't mean we all know each other. The great thing is we are working on it."

PAC LOOKING FOR SPONSORS

Our Community has a Performing Arts Committee which is looking for sponsors. The cost for the year is  $25.

The money is used to defray costs of productions that the group develops such as the recent Fashion Show, and last years hit "Broadway." A couple of pictures are displayed above. One is of "your friends" on the committee. Enjoy them and think about helping out by being a sponsor.

With the card comes a 10% discount for an entree at Cafe Verona. The Cafe has been very helpful working with PAC to do productions that return profits to our community

To become a sponsor write a check payable to PAC of Verona Walk  and give it to a member of the committee. See their picture below.

GOLF CARTS LOOK OUT, MY DAUGHTER IS DRIVING ON THE ROAD

Our daughter is visiting, She has this "Red Car" that you may see driving in "The Walk."  Step back if you see it. It has a hemi engine and lots of horsepower. She is here for the Verona Walk 500.

We told her about the Golf Carts and that stuff about needing a decal. She advised us that her car has "...its own decals!"  Not quite the same thing, but I like the picture.
