HAVE A LAUGH

Thank God for great neighbors and all those jokes and stories the send us. This one, in our judgement, was the best. Hope you like it.

Two Mexicans are stuck in the desert after crossing into the United States, wandering aimlessly and starving. They are about to just lie down and wait for death, when all of a sudden Luis says........

"Hey Pepe, do you smell what I smell. Ees bacon, I theenk."

"Si, Luis, eet sure smells like bacon. "
With renewed hope they struggle up the next sand dune, and there, in the distance, is a tree loaded with bacon.

There's there's fried bacon, double smoked bacon, Canadian bacon, every imaginable kind of cured pork.

"Pepe, Pepe, we ees saved. Ees a bacon tree."

"Luis, maybe ees a meerage? We ees in the desert don't forget."

"Pepe, since when deed you ever hear of a meerage that smell like bacon? Ees no meerage, ees a bacon tree."

And with that, Luis staggers towards the tree. He gets to within five feet, crawling close behind, when suddenly a machine gun opens up, and Luis drops like a wet sock. Mortally wounded, he warns Pepe with his dying breath,
"Pepe... go back man, you was right, ees not a bacon tree!"

"Luis, Luis mi amigo... what ees it? "

"Pepe.. ees not a bacon tree. Ees

Ees

Ees

Ees

Ees a ham bush!"

PULTE STOCK

We had some fun watching our builder's stock last year (2010) so it will be done again. The price near or at the end of the month will be noted. Keep in mind we are using some hypothetical money to purchase and hold 100 shares. That gives a little more meaning to the monthly ups and downs.

We are starting at $7.46 per share so our cost basis is $746.00 That is based on the price at end of December 2010.

At the end point, near the end of the month, in January 2011 "our" one hundred shares, at $8.21 are worth: $821.00. or $75 UP (as of 1/26)

BOSSES OFF TO POLICE SHOW & DISNEY

Once again the trusty neighbor has been given the job of watching the keyboard.

Nothing big deal going on, or I was informed. But why then do I have a temporary job here. I guess they like to see all the bases covered, and someone "on the job." I'll do my best not to bore anyone.

They are off to Titusville, and then Disney. There is a Police Collectors show on the East Coast, and we all know what Disney is about. That is why the guys are off again.

It seems the "Old Guy" wanted to go to the Police Badge and Patch Show so he made a deal to take the wife to Disney provided she help out at the Show.

I know the "Old Guy" takes those Police Shows very serious, and so I hope he has a great time there. Maybe he will bring back a couple of pictures. I hope he doesn't try to hang one of his badges on the Disney Duck. I'll probably be in trouble for suggesting it here. Too bad.

I am sure the Lady will enjoy her trip to Disney. We will get the news in a few days from her.

140 + NEW HOMES BUILT IN VERONAWALK

The year 2010 was a good one for Pulte in this development. A big sign recently appeared by the Gate House advising all that the number of new homes for us was 140 +.

Despite that good number the value of Pulte Stock dropped to seven dollars and change for the year ending December 2010. One could guess that this SW Florida location is doing well, but not well enough to push the stock up.

Lets hope for another good year in 2011.

NAVARRO PARTY

Saturday Night was "Date night" and the gang from Navarro Ct. converged on Town Center for a great evening.

Everyone brought a dish to share, and roughly 80 neighbors were present to have a taste of everything. The meal was excellent.

Music was provide by Navarro resident "Jersey Joe" and as usual did a fine job. He not only provided some great tunes from the 1940's, but managed to find some 50,' 60's, and 70's tunes to get everyone moving on the dance floor.

HARDROCK BUS BACK ON THE SCHEDULE

It rolled around 8:15 AM with a group of eager residents. The gang went all the way across Alligator Alley to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in search of a few dollars.

The weather couldn't have been better for the trip which hopefully will be a regular event. Heck one can always sit outside and look at the fountain.

Our neighbors went and had a great time. We look forward to joining them on the next trip.

16 IN THE GARDEN STATE

The Lady told me to make a note here to wish the grandson a Happy Birthday .

The kid is 16, and he is also the oldest grand son. That makes him special. Hope he has a great day, and life.

SNOWED IN

The white stuff has messed up the great idea V.W. Resident had about requiring propof of "Return Tickets" when visitors arrive from the North.

It seems New Jersey took a beating and so Jet Blue canceled flights out of Fort Myers. Net results the visiting time was extended. Only by a day. The daughter (pictured) enjoyed an extra day, as did the granddaughter.

Well the gang is gone now, and it was a good visit, but I will still require guests to show their "Return Tickets" in the future.

Well I guess he wasn't faking because after the picture he slept most of the day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALLIE

Callie is a big two year old today, and a holy terror.

The Lady of this house is quite proud of her twelfth grandchild. My Lady also says she appreciates the help the kid gives her cleaning the kitchen. I'm happy when she helps clean the car. It won't be long before she owns the house and is driving the car

Happy Birthday again. !!!

KINGS BIRTDAY

What can one say. This is the "King's Day." It is Elvis' birthday. Even the young guy's know who he was, and enjoy hearing his songs.

The old tunes will get a good deal of "air time" today. We hope the music gives one, and all, some great memories

BOWLING

Members of the community continued bowling on Fridays. The group is getting larger, but the scores are staying steady. There are many cheers when the "100 Mark" is hit. This writer saw the lady drag her "Old Guy" out bright and early this morning for what is becoming a big event. Maybe this neighbor will join the gang next time around.

GUY HARVEY'S LUNCH

The neighbor gang did lunch at Guy Harvey's on Wednesday and by all accounts had a great meal. It was outside seating overlooking Smokehouse Bay on Marco Island. The weather was just perfect making the day one to remember

NEW YEARS' AND DISNEY TOO

Those guy's were at it again. They are braving winter weather to visit the Magic Kingdom. This time it was a two night stop that was added onto that great New Years Day Dinner with family just outside Mt Kilimanjaro.

These visits are always great and keep the guys young.

JANUARY: DATES TO REMEMBER

2010 is GONE. It is now time to start writing those checks with the year 2011.

V.W. Resident just can't believe how time sails along.

Well first order of business: Happy New Year to family, friends and neighbors.

The Lady of the House is searching her files and will make sure the dates that need to be noted here are remembered this month, and we are already a few days behind.

Elvis has a birthday on the 8th, so V.W. will definitely be blasting some of his old 45's.

2011 WELCOMED AT FAMILY DINNER

It is getting to be a habit. For the second year the Publisher and his trusty Editor drove "North" to Apopka, Fl. There they celebrated New Years Day with Uncles, Aunts, and cousins.

The publisher Dude was said to have enjoyed several shots with his uncle. They both survived the glares and cautioning words of the ladies. Well it was New Years so all was OK.

A great German meal was the hit of the day. It included Rouladen, and Potato Pancakes. This meal is unusual, but also a family tradition. The plates were piled quite high, and empty when the meal concluded. A great way to start the New Year.

PAUL ANKA BRINGS IN THE NEW YEAR - 2011

Those neighbor guys told us they had a great time at the "Phil" on New Years Eve. Great for them.

When they arrived for the show they were treated to a nice selection of appetizers and got warmed up for the show that followed.

Paul Anka appeared and looked good, even if he isn't a teenager any longer. The years have treated him good, and he treated everyone to a fine show.

The neighbor guy had an eye in the sky looking for our mutual friend Bruno. It would have been great to see him, but with a capacity crowd no such luck. Fortunately another friend, "Diana," was there to make everyone smile.

Use the click and have a return to yesteryear and Diana.
