HAVE A LAUGH

A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his father as to when they could discuss his use of the car.

His father said he’d make a deal: ‘You bring your grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut. Then we’ll talk about the car.’

The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he’d settle for the offer, and they agreed on it.

After about six weeks his father said, ‘Son, you’ve brought your grades up and I’ve observed that you have been studying your Bible, but I’m disappointed you haven’t had your hair cut.

The boy said, ‘You know, Dad, I’ve been thinking about that, and I’ve noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair…and there’s even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair.’

His father replied, ‘Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?

ITALIAN NIGHT

Rick's offered "Italian Night" on Sunday Aug. 29.

This Lady discovered the posting while doing one of those healthy walks. What is newsworthy is that the "Old Guy" consented to go, and coughed up the funds to pay for the meal. There was a nice crowd present and who, besides bruno, could argue with hot Italian food. From where we sat it appeared that everyone enjoyed their meal.

All good things end and "My Guy" remembered something about a football game on TV.

MATTIE"S PLACE LOOKING TO REOPEN

The sign outside has been saying "Soon".

There has been a good deal of activity the last couple of days and it now looks like the store is again OPEN.

This is good news. It's time again to buy some Lotto Tickets and Ice Cream.

RICK"S PLACE

Rick's place hosted a neighborhood "Get Together" on Saturday for $15.00 per person. Price included two drinks as well as some very nice appetizers.

The event was excellent, and attended by roughly forty residents. The rear section of Rick's was set aside to accommodate the party. There were some faces that are seen at most events, however there were some new neighbors that we hope to see around. Our good friend bruno had another engagement. Everyone missed him this past Saturday.

TOWN CENTER STORES STILL CLOSED

It is mid August and the restoration process has not been completed for the three stores impacted by the flood, caused by a broken air conditioning pipe.

Workers have been seen going in and out of these stores. The walls and ceilings appear to have been replaced. Yet is still looks like there is more to do.

Hope they finish soon as the lotto money is building here in the house. It needs to be spent on a winner.

FISH FRY WITH JERSEY JOE & NEIGHBORS

Sunday at Town Center was a great night. The crowd was smaller and there was more than enough room for everyone.

Jersey Joe provided the entertainment and did a great job. He remembered those old songs without a problem. He managed to get many of us Lost in the Fifties over and over. He tried bouncing the music off the walls to his rear to allow those at the tables a better chance to engage in conversation. Consensus was this idea worked. Good thinking Jersey Joe.

My friend, bruno, could be heard several tables away. He was talking about wanting to go back on the job. He contented himself by dancing with the ladies and quickly forgot about the job. He also was observed enjoying the wonderful chocolate chip cookies.

Our dinner was provided by Southern Accents and they did a great job. They filled our plates and served the group a in quick orderly manner. This was a good night for the gang.

ANNIVERSARY IN NJ

The "Old Guy" won't remember but he sure is willing to celebrate his number two daughter's anniversary. It was Aug 14, some seventeen years ago. Time flies. Well we hope she had a great day, and enjoys her new car (and payments).

Thanks to the Chatham Twnp. Fire Dept. for use of their facility where picture was taken in June.

BEACH DAY

Well there is always sun in Florida. The wife decide we would go to the Beach on Monday and enjoy some of that Sun.

Unfortunately it always rains in Florida.

We managed to get a little (very little) sun, and some warm Gulf water. Then the dark clouds opened and we got a little wt of a different kind.

Home we went. Thank god for a good book to read.

FIRST SATURDAY AT NAPLES ZOO, FREE TO COLLIER RESIDENTS

It has been a while since this lady was able to get the "old guy" up and out to the Zoo. He went without a whimper, because the first Saturday of the month is a freebie. I am surprised he didn't get a call from Bruno to go. They love that stuff, freebies I mean.

We didn't take any grandchildren this trip so everything went smoothly. My guy had his camera and got tons of pictures of the animals which made his day.

I was very excited to see the Giraffe's. The Zoo had five on display. They were in a large area, but came very close to the fence so the were easy to see.

We stayed about 2 hours, and the extra treat that was added was that the "old guy" swears he lost "At least two pounds: due to the heat. This young lady was soaked too. Still it was a great day.

BOWLING CONTINUES ON FRIDAY'S

Bowling continues for VeronaWalk residents.

It was a small group this Friday, but there was no shortage of fun and entertainment. One "Old Guy" was observed with an improvement in his limp following a 144 game.

A few more neighbors are needed to make are gang a tad larger. Anyone interested should show up.

GUY'S LUNCH

A small group of neighbors who have been doing lunch, on the first Wednesday of the month, had a large group today. Food was enjoyed at Hoots on U.S. 41. This was a good time for the "old guy's" and the "new guy's."

AUGUST BIRTHDAY'S ETC.

As usual I check with my Queen to see if there are any dates to remember during the month. She thinks I have a memory problem or something else. Anyway her response was: "I have five kids, none born in August, what about you?" I think my answer is "Same as you, My Queen", and nothing to report until September on this subject.
