HAVE A LAUGH

The neighbors still have a good sense of humor. This one just arrived.

Dumb Smitty robbed the liquor store, and got $450.  The bad news is He got caught.

It was a tough trial. Smitty did not testify. The jury was in deliberation for hours. Then they reached a verdict. The Court was quiet as the Foreman stood. He announced that jury found Smitty "Not Guilty !"

Dumb Smitty stood with delight, and then said aloud, "Does that mean I can keep the money ?"

CALL TO VOTE ON PAINTING AND ROOF CLEANING ISSUE

Above are a couple of pictures of roofs.

They get dirty and need power washing.

The paint on our homes may also fade.

In order to be responsible for your own

home maintenance you must vote for a

proposed Amendment to our HOA Docu-

ments.

This is important. Vote "In Favor."  If this

is not approved you will see a huge in-

crease in dues.

Voting "In Favor" will allow each owner

to be in charge of his/her maintenance

and paying for same.

Get out the vote as a simple majority is

not enough. Almost one thousand votes

"In Favor" are needed.  Let your friends

know too. Every vote is important !

PULTE STOCK

Here we are in 2015 looking at our Builders Stock. As you know we are tracking the progress of an imaginary investment of $642. that purchased 100 shares of Pulte stock a few years ago.

Since that initial purchase the value actually went into the "red" for a few weeks. In recent months it has been around $20.00 per share.

The end of January the stock closed again around $20.00 keeping our investment on the plus side. Thhe last reading we took was $20.07

BLOG AND CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS TURNED OVER TO TRUSTY NEIGHBOR

Well with all the things that have been going on they have decided to just go somewhere and hopefully have the Sun shine on them. Their daughter is home, but still experience pain from the broken ribs. She will cope with it though.

On the Campaign we understand He spruced up his Resume, and submitted it officially. With that done, He can afford to put it to rest for a while. He will need it if He walks every street knocking on doors for the vote.

I'll be here, and will post some good news and maybe one of His pictures, as I learned how He does it. Good wishes to them and a happy few days away from here.

Respectfully

Trusty Neighbor

MICKEY IS STILL PREACHING - CITY HALL POLITICS

It seems applications have been requested from proposed lessees to be given to the BOD. The Board will then make a decision, probably in mid February, as to who gets the new lease.

One proposal was made recently by a resident in the Real Estate business. That person offered big bucks to take over the Hair Salon. That business could/would be forced out of the Community.

On the surface our HOA would get, maybe $15,000 (plus/minus) in the bank to help pay our bills. Sounds good, but be careful not to jump at the cry: "Look at that money, grab it!"

The sum of $15,000 is of minimal significance in a budget of just under ten million dollars. It represents roughly.0015 of our total budget. So if we don't jump for "money, money, money," what should the Board of Directors be looking at ?

We think proposed lessees should have a business that will have a "benefit" to the Community. We don't need someone selling airplane parts for sure, but we can benefit from an on site Hair Salon, Travel Agency etc. This type of "service" should be our number one goal.

Next we do not want businesses in competition with each other or other residents. We have several (tens) residents who work in the Real Estate field. Certainly the Board of Directors should not give an advantage to one resident over another resident.

Even without the competition we do not need to make one person or group the presumed agent(s) of preference.

Last, whoever wishes to be a lessee in VeronaWalk should be told that they will be subjected to a "full background check" including criminal and financial records. This should be done so we can be sure we are getting only a person of good moral character. If you agree let the Board know.

A PIECE OF WISDOM QUOTED

"The Budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled,
public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be
tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be
curtailed, lest Rome will become bankrupt. People must again learn to work
instead of living on public assistance."

Cicero, 55 BC

So, evidently, we've learned NOTHING over the past 2,070 years.

DAUGHTER IN CAR ACCIDENT

Sunday morning (Jan 11) the wife and  were shocked out of a nice sleep. Our daughter (Denise) was in a car accident.

She was able to call from emergency room, where she was being. She is now in ICU.  She has rib and a spinal injuries. Needless to say a lot of pain. The good news is she survived crash, and can talk, think, and hopefully will heal. That is our prayer.

We are calming ourselves down and have been in constant communication with the rest of the family which has been very helpful. We are hoping for the best. Keep your fingers crossed.

CLICK FOR BOARD MINUTES

We started providing a means for our readers to "click" to read an official copy of "their" Community's Board Meetings. That no longer works.

It seems within our Community there have been some changes that impact on our creating a link directly to your minutes. This is progress. So to keep you up to speed we are making a change too.

Starting in January 2015 if a resident would like to see the Agendas and Minutes, He/She must access the official web site for our Community. This will require a User Name and Password (that is your job).

We can still help you get to the correct place from our blog. The initial procedure is unchanged. Just follow the steps outlined below.

First when our page opens look for the picture under the caption: "Gateway to Paradise."

Once you find it, scroll down. Go through the "I Am a Resident" section until you see the caption - "Sites of Interest."

The very first site listed is: VeronaWalk "Board Meetings." Simply Click and you are there at our local web site. Even Mickey can do it !

JUST SAY GO AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO THE STEPS NECESSARY TO READ YOUR MINUTES

Now all you need is your VW User/Password.

FAMILY GATHERING

Every year we gather at Dennis' Uncles house. Their all the relatives gather for fun and food.

The uncle did his best to be host, while the cousin did all the work creating a German style family meal that was magnificent. Even some powerful spirits were around to have a shot.

Following the day of fun we stayed at Holiday Inn for the night. We left early so the Old Guy could plan a trip to Disney. Another One?

Well here are some pictures from the big Meal.

NEW YEARS EVE AT TOWN CENTER

The last day of 2014 and the New Year ahead in a matter of a couple hours. The party at Town Center was a fine end for 2014.

The Gents, and their Ladies dressed to kill in fine fashion. The came in style using the antique Rolls Royce to get them to Ball Room.

Promptly at midnight the years flashed. 2014 was gone, history.  2015 came in with graceful style. The pictures below show the fun we had, and were contributed by Ms Jeannie T. Many Thanks.

DATES FOR US TO REMEMBER

It is now time to us to start writing those checks with the year 2015.

The Lady of the House is now searching her files. She will make sure the dates that need to be noted here, are remembered. She said,  "Three grand children this month!"  It was a good idea giving her that responsibility. She will be doing those posts along with the others. I'll take care of the camera, and watch the checkbook.

Check our blog out every now and then. We will try to let you know what we are hearing in the Community, and give you our thinking for what it is worth.

You can help by sending in news that you want to have featured here and we will post it.
