HAVE A LAUGH

We checked the neighborhood and old emails to come up with the piece of humor below. Hope you like it.

"Jacob, age 92, and Mary, age 89, living in Naples, are all excited
about their decision to get married. They go for a stroll to discuss the
wedding, and on the way they pass a drugstore. Jacob suggests they
go in.

Jacob addresses the man behind the counter:

"Are you the owner?" The pharmacist answers, "Yes."

Jacob: "We're about to get married. Do you sell heart medication?"

Pharmacist: "Of course we do."

Jacob: "How about medicine for circulation?"

Pharmacist: "All kinds."

Jacob: "Medicine for rheumatism?"

Pharmacist: "Definitely."

Jacob: "How about suppositories and medicine for impotence?"

Pharmacist: "You bet!"

Jacob: "Medicine for memory problems, arthritis and Alzheimer's?"

Pharmacist: "Yes, a large variety. The works."

Jacob: "What about vitamins, sleeping pills, Geritol, antidotes for
Parkinson's disease?"

Pharmacist: "Absolutely."

Jacob: "Everything for heartburn and indigestion?"

Pharmacist: "We sure do."

Jacob: "You sell wheelchairs and walkers and canes?"

Pharmacist: "All speeds and sizes."

Jacob: "Adult diapers?"

Pharmacist: "Sure."

Jacob: "We'd like to use this store as our Bridal Registry."

PULTE STOCK

OK here it is. The numbers for my imaginary 100 shares of Pulte.

At the close of business on July 28 my stock was at $19.36   That keeps me in the green.   Remember the original price was $6.42. So that is good. It is in the Green, and that is what we want.

The problem is IRS is still looking at my long term gain here. I want them to go away so I can lean on Pulte to give me a job in Sales.

They initially rejected me because I am nearing a hundred or close enough. That just doesn't seem right. As soon as I get my glasses I am going to call Mo Berg. He speaks their language, and knows how to fix things

SEND MONEY

They just sent an email saying they are on the ship: Pride of America. It goes around the Hawiian Islands.

That should be fun, and we all know the "Old Guy" will bring back  a ton of pictures and make us look at them.

The rest of the note said something about adding money to pay-pal whatever that is. Oh well. Enjoy the weather and keep the sails up.

MAUI COWGIRL

There is a time difference between here and Hawaii  I guess they were excited when they called, but I lost a lot of sleep time. I also established they are not in Mouseland.

They called to report that they spent time with their niece - Debbie. She lives in Hawaii.

As they tell it, She is a Cowgirl. She has a few horses and rides often, also taking people on trail rides. She also participates in local rodeo's. This is all on Maui which is a very beautiful island.

The "Old Guy" was excited, but there was no way he was getting on a horse.

THEY ARE OFF AGAIN

They have been packing, yakking, and bickering for days now. They even told me to "just take care of the keyboard."

I don't want to even ask where they are going this time. Probably Disney, but I never saw so much tension before. Maybe they found somewhere to visit besides Mouseland.

I'll keep an eye out and if I hear anything I'll post it. For now I will sneak an old picture from Disney onto the screen just in case I am guessing right. The boat suggests a cruise so I have all bases covered.

MARY SENDS GOOD WISHES FOR BIG TRIP

Our "friend" Mary, who constantly checks our spelling and finds time to rattle our cage with all those questions and emails, has conveyed her best wishes to us bloggers on our Hawaiian Trip.

Her wishes are appreciated as have been her cookies that she thoughtfully donates to our staff.

Thanks Mary!  Keep an eye on our replacement blogger.

JULY !9 HEARING FOR "BAD SEED"

We checked with Code Enforcement to follow the progress regarding this home on Valentina Ct. A complaint was made on June    18, 2013

Following the complaint the Sheriff investigated and found the home not secured and signs of squatters. They too asked Code Enforcement to take action.

A hearing was set for July 19.

A disposition was not available, but the above picture reveals what the place looks like today.

OAKMONT ROOF PROBLEM

A small number of people have reported a problem with water backing up on heir roofs and causing damage inside the home.

Apparently certain gutters do not have end caps and when heavy water flows out the gutter it gets under the tile and into the house. Once it makes entry their are water marks on garage ceiling, guest bedrooms, and living room.

Those reporting this type of damage say interior walls have to be cut out and replaced as well as ceilings. Mold treatment is also necessary. This can be expensive.

A company trading as "Gutter Solutions" has been used by residents on at least two streets with Oakmonts. They have installed the "end cap" and also put in a 'Downspout Opening" which they claim will prevent water from "backing up." They can be reached at 239-450-1702. Below are pictures of their solution.

Does anyone know if the Divosta Warranty applies to homes with less then ten years ownership?  Let us know and we will pass information along.

LAKES LOOKING GOOD

All it takes is one drop at a time.

With the heavy rains we got late June, and in early July, we got a lot of "One drops."

Take a look at our lakes now. The water line is up and looking good. Time to buy a canoe.

A JULY BIRTHDAY FOR THE QUEEN

7-11 is supposed to be a dice game's good numbers - I think.

Anyway that is today's date and it is my Queens Birthday. I hope the numbers are good, because she got me a few years back and has been on a roll ever since. Maybe I should take her to Disney.

"BASEBALL" BOARD - NINE MEMBERS ON THE TEAM

Word was going around our Community that a decision was made to establish the future Board of Directors with Five Members. This would, of course, be after residents take control of the community in 2014.

A small number on the board would place power and control in the hands of only a few (5). There is a greater chance of resident involvement with the larger number of nine members to be elected.

We are glad to report that the story going around citing a five member Board was inaccurate! We have been told the number at this point is nine.

From this corner nine is a good number. That is what is needed to field a good team.

4TH OF JULY - INDEPENDENCE DAY

Time is going by too fast !  Another year and another Fourth of July. They have a fourth of July over in the UK too, but over there it is only just a date.

Our date is special as it reflects Independence Day. To many of us this is a holiday with some real meaning. Don't forget what independence and freedom is all about.

It is a time for baseball, fireworks and most important some good old flag waving. At the end of the day a little walk on the nearby beach one can see a brilliant display of fireworks. We took the "Double Sunshine" out on the Gulf to see the fireworks.

Enjoy our pictures, and hope you enjoyed the day

PERFORMING ARTS CENTER: "BE A SPONSOR"

The Performing Arts Center of Verona Walk has been busy preparing for our bi-annual fundraiser.  Many talented singers under the direction of Joe Fusco, and dancers, being lead by Michele Azzolina have been hard at work putting a show together for our community to enjoy on February 28March 1&2 of 2014.  Under the direction of Diane Bruegeman, and wonderful costume design by Cathy Freed, the show will surely please our neighbors and friends.

The beneficiaries of the show’s proceeds will be area children’s charities.  The PAC in 2012 was proud to raise $15,300 for Avow Hospice.  We hope that our efforts will bring the Verona Walk community together for this common cause.

The PAC is requesting that members of our community will become sponsors each year.  These funds will help with the purchase of costumes, audio equipment, risers, stage and lighting for our productions.  As a payback, your sponsorship card will get you a 10% discount at Café Verona

Sponsorships are $25 per year.  If you are interested in helping us, or have special talents, please inquire to Joe Fusco, Musical Director at 417-0733

Enjoy the pictures of the group at a recent rehearsal.

DATES TO REMEMBER

The "Old Guy" fell asleep so I will make this entry.

There are only two big, and I mean BIG dates for him to write a comment about this month. I will only say here that if his daughter is 25 he better use that new math of his and make me 25 too.

Enough said !
