PULTE STOCK

Good God, It is September already. The year is going too fast, and this stock seems to be moving slowly. What a mix.

The value is now  $18.58

Our original investment, with imaginary funding, was $6.42  Over the years we are ahead, but I don't think retirement is in view based on this investment.

HAVE A LAUGH

They neighbor's do not seem to be getting tired sending their jokes. The problem is some can't be printed here. The one below is close to the line, but we think you can chuckle with it. So read below

A lady goes to her priest one day and tells him,
'Father, I have a problem.
I have two female parrots,
But they only know to say one thing.'
'What do they say?' the priest asked.
They say, 'Hi, we're hookers!
Do you want to have some fun?'
'That's obscene!' the priest exclaimed,
Then he thought for a moment......
'You know,' he said, 'I may have a solution to your problem.
I have two male talking parrots,
which I have taught to pray and read the Bible...
Bring your two parrots over to my house,
and we'll put them in the cage with Francis and Peter.
My parrots can teach your parrots to pray and worship,
And your parrots are sure to stop saying that phrase in no time.'
'Thank you,' the woman responded,
'this may very well be the solution.'
The next day,
She brought her female parrots to the priest's house....
As he ushered her in,
She saw that his two male parrots
were inside their cage holding rosary beads and praying...
Impressed,
She walked over and placed her parrots in with them...
After a few minutes,
The female parrots cried out in unison:
Hi, we're hookers! Do you want to have some fun?'
There was stunned silence...
Shocked, one male parrot looked over at
the other male parrot and says...
'Put the beads away, Frank,
Our prayers have been answered !!!

GUATEMALA REPORT

This just in from our man in Guatemala. He said the weather is nice. Sun's out, temperature in the 70's, with an easy breeze. No hurricanes.

The said the did some recognizance in the interior and found all of the schools closed. The parks and playgrounds were empty too.

Tomorrow the "old guy" charted a plane to fly into the mountain area for more recognizance.

He is thinking alien abduction - they can't find any kids. Where did they go ?

PUBLISHER AWAY FOR WEDDING AND VACATION

This writer hasn't worked here long enough to know how many travel dates they have in the course of the year. Our job is to shut up and type. We also have to do house watch for him.

On top of that we also have to work with his other "trusty neighbor" who just leaked that they will be first in, San Francisco and second, Guatemala. Where is that. Hope they don't get lost, CERT doesn't travel outside of the community.

There will be a lot of pictures when they return. It seems the camera is cover for a special mission the "Old Guy" has taken for his Uncle Sam. I can't wait to see those pictures.

SAN FRANCISCO

She called today from San Francisco. I didn't get the call but she left a message asking that we tell all that the City by the Bay is very, very nice.

The went to Tilden Park on Saturday. He was all smiles despite the fact that he had to wear a jacket. The wedding went smoothly, and the meal after in the well known Brazilian Room was fabulous.

He enjoyed his trip to Alcatraz immensely, and took dozens of pictures. Her favorite activity was the Trolley and Fisherman's Wharf.

On Monday they depart for Guatemala. Guess that means more pictures.

RAIN DOES NOT SPOIL TRIP ON NAPLES PRINCESS

It was a rainy afternoon and some of us thought the boat won't sail. That was not the case. The "Naples Princess" goes rain or shine. I wonder what they would do if it snowed.

This cruise was special as the Chorus from our community planned to make this into a surprise party for Gail our local opera star. That teenager is still enjoying birthdays, and sharing with her VeronaWalk family, made this one extra nice.

Joe Marino playing, on his keyboard, supplied entertainment for the group. I think he too was glad his stage was "inside."

SHERIFF TO INSPECT CHILD CAR SEATS

From Collier County Sheriff's Office:

Not sure if you’ve properly installed your child’s car seat? Have your car seat checked or fitted for free by a Collier County Sheriff’s Office child passenger safety technician.

CCSO will participate in three car seat safety inspection events in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Child Passenger Safety Week” initiative Sept. 14-20.

Parents may visit any one of the following events:

- Monday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m. - noon, Collier County Health Department, 3319 U.S. 41 E., East Naples
- Tuesday, Sept. 16, 9 – 11 a.m., Twinkle Twinkle Little Store, 4172 U.S. 41 N., North Naples
- Wednesday, Sept. 17, 9 a.m. – noon, Wal-Mart Supercenter, 6550 Collier Blvd., East Naples

Certified car seat technicians will work with you to make sure your child is in the right seat and fitted properly, and that the seat is correctly installed in your vehicle.

The programs are free and open to the public.

Bilingual fitting technicians will be available.

Florida law requires parents to use a child restraint system. If children are not properly restrained while traveling in a vehicle, they could easily be injured in a collision or any other emergency situation.

To schedule an appointment for a free inspection at a time convenient to you, contact CCSO car seat safety technician Marianna Herrera at 239.252.0367, or e-mail trafficsafety@colliersheriff.net.

REMEMBER 9-11

Thirteen years ago the "Twin Towers" were taken down by terrorists. I am sure people my age remember that day, and the emotional roller coaster that followed.

Take a minute and reflect. Lets turn this World we live in around. Make it safe. Stay focused on the problem and deal with it.

End your day today with a salute to all who served in NYC that day.

BOARD MEETING

The Board of Directors met on Wednesday Sep. 3.  This was an evening meeting and started at 6:00 PM

Our reporter said he heard the cash register ringing, and also noted that the room was filled with residents. That was good.

There were a few money items that deserve to be noted here, however one should review the official minutes when they are online.

The Board approved  spending roughly: $1200 (no bids) to repair the drinking fountain at Town Center; $6000 (no bids) to place surveillance TV's around the tennis courts; and $6000 to replace the "point of sale" computer system in the restaurant which was deemed to be our responsibility under the terms of the lease.

Discussion came to the floor regarding the issue of painting homes, and cleaning roofs. Already tempers are building, and the need for educating residents on all facets of this subject is in order. Residents will decide this issue in March.

GENTLEMEN' S LUNCH

La Pinata was the location for the VeronaWalk Gentlemen's Lunch a couple of days ago.

This was supposed to be a small group due to the time of the year, but it looks like more and more resident's are staying all year. The Gentlemen's Group must be the reason people are staying here. They are the best group on the planet we have been told.

There were over thirty men present, including our roving  reporter. He states this was a good time for all. As an extra treat the group was comped a nice ice cream dessert. Muy bien.

Don't forget the Romeo Lunch in case you are still hungry.

Hasta Luego.

BADGE SHOW AND DISNEY

It was that time of the year when they travel to Orlando so he can put his little badge hobby on display.

They stayed initially at the Rozen Plaza on Friday night. The next day she helped him set up his exhibit. She said,  "With all those policemen present she felt very safe. Her job was to stay by the exhibits while he walked around talking with his "Pals" hoping he might find something to buy. He did too.

After the show they traveled, a short distance, to Disney's Riverside Hotel. It's  hard to be upset with this location. It served as home for their next three nights.

During the day He had that camera with him. He had his friend Daisy pose for pictures, and roast marshmallows. She did a great job filling in for Mickey. Goofy stayed in the background and seemed to be acting a little better then usual. Mickey Mouse was busy at the hurricane display giving a lecture. Nice job Mickey.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DAUGHTER

He forgot the exact date, but I write them down. I even have a picture of her and her Dad at a recent family gathering. She likes pink. Mom, in the background, also likes pink.

Our daughter is doing her 25th birthday today. She had the same number last year. Some things never change.

Cheryl and her family are enjoying life in the Garden State. Believe it or not she has five sons. Wow !

Happy Birthday Cher

BEARS ARE IN THE AREA

So everyone knows Bears have been seen in our Community. If not you know now. They are here.

They apparently are looking for food, and have found garbage cans good targets. Several residents have reported Bears knocking over garbage and leaving a mess on our streets.

It has been suggested that garbage cans be put out only in the mornings. This would be a wise choice to make.

FPL TO LOWER RATES

Good news. Our electric provider announced the other day that they were lowering their rates.

There will be a drop of $2.00 in the amount charged for using 1000 kWh.

That's a help. Be happy.

SEPTEMBER DATES TO REMEMBER

The publisher's daughter has a birthday to be noted later on in the month.

We will also need to get the Guy with the Camera to share some new Disney pictures after they get back home from Mouseland (Disney).

On the 10th we will be looking for some reports on how the night on the Naples Princess went. Maybe some more pictures.
