HALLOWEEN

Halloween marks the end of October for me.

 I was thinking of dressing up this year, but the wife said it would not be funny if I dressed up as an IRS Examiner. Oh well. I don't know what the problem was. The reporters are all in jail so who would say anything and get me in trouble.

I took some pictures in the community and will keep my participation in this years holiday to just sharing a couple with you. The one on top is the old guy when he owned an oil well.

This is a horrible lie and one which a Christian community cannot tolerate.I am embarrassed and do not intend to accept this.
 
Now, I want the party who said this to stand and ask forgiveness from God and this Christian family."
 
No one moved.
 
The preacher continued, "Do you have the nerve to face me and admit this is a falsehood?
 
Remember, you will be forgiven and in your heart you will feel glory. Now stand and confess your transgression."
 
Again, all was quiet.
 
Then, slowly, a drop-dead gorgeous blonde with a body that would stop a runaway train rose from the third pew.
 
Her head was bowed and her voice quivered as she spoke, "Reverend there has been a terrible misunderstanding.
 
I never said you were a member of the Ku Klux Klan. I simply told a couple of my friends that you were a wizard under the sheets."
 
The preacher fell to his knees, his wife fainted, and the congregation roared.

PULTE STOCK

Here we are in October and still tracking Pulte Stock.

If you don't recall we purchased  100 shares a couple of years ago. The stock was a basement bargain and even went lower.

Our price,with imaginary money, was $6.42 per share. We have seen a lot of "Red Ink" with this purchase but that was quite a while ago

Last time we checked it was definitely in he Green at $16.87

TAX BILL

Just a note to remind (as if one could forget) our real estate taxes are due November 1st.

Payment may be made through February,  however in order to get the early payment discount of 4%, you should pay in November.

SHARED GATE TO OUR SOUTH A POSSIBILITY

A presentation was made to our community, by the Developer, informing us that the property on Collier Blvd, to our South, will be developed. The homes that will be built are to be similar to those recently built here.

Of particular interest is the creation of a new entry to our community that will be shared with the new Development.  Exact shared costs  have  been estimated at $4.50 per month.

This new gate was part of the original  plans  established by the developer  several years ago.

A safety recommendation was made a couple of years ago to create a second means of exiting the community. That was independent of the Developers plans.  

Perhaps now  action will be taken  to build an alternative means of entry and exiting our property. We think it is a good idea. The front gate can be blocked. It has already happened. With that situation emergency vehicles also would not be able to get in to the community.

We doubt the new gate will look like the one below. No matter how it looks, let it happen.

OFF AGAIN, THIS TIME TO JERSEY

They have a new grandson so the Queen has dragged the "Old Guy" out of bed and took him on the big jet plane to New Jersey.

I, the trusty neighbor, have again been charged with the key board. I'll do my best.

I know He will be back for the VeronaWalk Gentlemen's Lunch on Nov 6.

One of our neighbors sent a simple one lined prayer and asked that we simply pass it on.  It is very appropriate so here it is:

DAY OUT SHELLING

We got up early on Friday (18th) and made our way over to Goodland. There we met the Captain of the "Reel Kind Fishing Charters" for a great couple of hours on the water.

Now I do my fishing at Publix so you need to understand that this was a shelling trip. Not that I am big about shells, but it was just a good feeling to walk on sand beaches that are empty.

REAL PROGRESS WITH TWO NASTY HOUSES

This scene of two, repeat two trucks, parked in driveways of those homes that have been getting a little heat because of their abandoned status is  a good site.

The sound of the power washer is also a welcome noise today. It has taken over two years to get someone to pay for some basic management.

Next step is to sell them.

PAC GOLF TOURNAMENT

On Thursday (17th) members of the community attended a Golf Tournament sponsored by the members of both our Community at large and the Performing Arts Center.

It was held at Hibiscus Country Club.

The reports have been coming in that the event was a huge success. There were no reports of any "Hole in One Shots," but the players won a number of fine prizes which certainly helped make this a good day.

STATUS OF DISGUSTING PROPERTY IN OUR COMMUNITY

It takes time.

Now, months after a complaint was filed against the owners of this disgusting property, and years since the owners abandoned it we see progress.

A lock has been put on the screen doors on the lanai. That's good as it will deter intruders.The electric has been turned on as the air conditioner (and outside lights) are now on.  

"All" that needs to be done now is: Clean pool, remove black mold on lanai, power wash building and so on.  BUT there is progress and a telephone number to use if anyone is interested. 

FIVE OF A KIND

Five of a kind trumps just about everything.

The "five" above are our daughters.

We taught them a lot, such as counting, organizing, and getting everything in order !

They learned how to use one of those telephone cameras on their own. The rest is Priceless !!!

RUMMY KUBE ACTION ON SUNDAY

This past Sunday the gang stayed behind within our gates at Town Center. The reason was the battle for the quarter.

The group plays Rummy Kube on Sunday at 2:00 PM. The battle for that .25 makes the game interesting to say the least. There is plenty of laughs and fine conversation.

The game is also played on Wednesday at 2:00 and for the night owls on Thursday at 7:00 PM

OUR GRANDDAUGHTER VISITS NEW YORK AUNT

Our Granddaughter, Cali, had the good fortune of taking a trip this weekend with her Mom.

They went to New York City. She got to ride this nice horse and has a big smile. Her Mom and Aunt are making her very happy. See that smile.

She has stayed in touch sending pictures like the one above. Grandma likes it, and that is all that counts.

WINDING CYPRESS PROJECT

The President of our H.O.A. (Scott Brooks) just released this informational letter to all residents. It appears here in its' original format for readers information and to supplement the released document. See it below.

Dear VeronaWalk Residents –

In the coming weeks there will be a Neighborhood Information Meeting held by JR Evans Engineering regarding the Winding Cypress parcel just south of VeronaWalk. The meeting is intended to educate interested property owners on DiVosta’s application to amend the zoning of the parcel to single family homes sites similar to that of VeronaWalk.

There is no action required by you.  This is simply informational only and required by CollierCounty application process.  You, along with the neighboring communities surrounding the Winding Cypress parcel will receive an invitation to the Neighborhood Information Meeting which will be held on or about October 22, 2013 from the consultants, JR Evans Engineering. This meeting will be held in a local public meeting place TBD.

DiVosta would like to invite VeronaWalk residents to its own informational meeting to be held at the Town Center on October 21^st at 5:00 pm. This will give you an opportunity to ask questions directly to the developer in a more convenient venue prior to the public meeting.  Please join us for refreshments and an open Q&A session regarding Winding Cypress.

COMCAST SURVEY

The time has come to do something besides looking at our beautiful fountains in the lake. It is time to voice your opinion regarding Comcast.

Our Transition Team is looking at "our uses" of Comcast products. This could be TV, Telephone, or Internet. With this information the team will get a better understanding of your use, and wishes. This information hopefully will be a help when talking about a new contract.

EAST NAPLES F. D. HONORS OUR CERT TEAM

The local East Naples Fire Department, at its'  meeting on Tuesday Night (Oct.8), recognized the VeronaWalk Cert Team for having been named by State Officials as 2013's  Best Team.

The Volunteer Group has been in existence since 2008 and is always looking for a new members.

NICE SUNSET

The Old Guy just happened to see this beautiful sunset while heading out of the community for an errand.

These nice sunsets are here almost every day, but how often do we take a few minutes to watch.

ROMEOS LUNCH

The Romeo Group will have their monthly lunch on October 10. The time is 12:00 Noon.

CARRABBA'S LUNCH HAS ANOTHER GREAT DAY

Over forty Gentlemen in the VeronaWalk Community attended their "First Wednesday of the Month" lunch on Oct. 2.

The Luncheon was at Carrabbas. The Chicken Marsala turned out to be the favorite choice, with that famous Lasagna  a very close second.

The Gentlemen enjoyed a full agenda of food, fun and friendship. Management provided a gift certificate for a drawing which made one member very very happy.

CARRABBA'S TOMORROW !

The First Wednesday of the Month comes quick this month. We hope the Gentlemen remembered the date from their last luncheon.

The location is Collier Blvd. and Tamiami Trail for Carrabba's. This lunch promises to be an excellent meeting, and again Carrabba's is offering their famous Lasagna.

It will begin at Noon and there will be the normal Agenda: Food, Fun, and Friendship. This is what makes The VeronaWalk Gentlemen the fine group that it has been for the last seven years. Come join them.
