HAVE A LAUGH

A nice V. W. Neighbor liked this joke and sent it to us to share with everyone. Hope you enjoy it too. Here it is:

A woman walked into the kitchen to find her
husband stalking around with a fly swatter

"What are you doing?"
She asked.

"Hunting Flies"
He responded.

"Oh! Killing any?"
She asked.

"Yep, 3 males, 2 Females," he replied.

"How can you tell," she asked.

"Well two were on a beer can, and three were on the phone," he responded.

HEART SAVER COURSE

The American Heart Association will offer its' "Heart Saver" course on September 16, from 9:00 A.M. to approximately 1:00 P.M. for Town Center Employees. Appropriately the class will be in one of our meeting rooms.

This class had a limited number of seats available, and a few members of our C.E.R.T. were also able to be included in the session.

From this viewpoint this training is a positive for the community.

SHOULDER REPORT

My Lady graduated from physical therapy on Thursday (8/13). She got 90% on her exit interview, with instructions to keep exercising.

As a reward she is getting a trip, in a couple of days, to Alaska! She is looking forward to playing with the Huskies. Sure hope she doesn't bring one home.

SEVEN DOLLAR DANCE VIA HAWAII

Hawaii was the theme for this months seven dollar dance. As usual it was a bargain, and lots of fun.

Thos who attended had the opportunity to see the DJ who will perform New Years Eve. He is a Jersey guy so naturally he played some music by Frank Sinatra to make some of the gang smile. But he also played plenty by Don Ho. He certainly soaked the beaches with tiny bubbles. That made everyone happy.

At the conclusion of the evening our gang had the opportunity to participate in a limbo dance. This limbered up the bones quite well. The winner won a VW hat, and the name of a physical therapy office if needed.

IT'S ANNIVERSARY TIME

V.W. Resident remembered without any reminders that today is Cher & Thor's anniversary.

Time is really going fast. I still remember their first date. God that was during the last century. He was nervous, and she was too. Well all that has changed. They are both confident people with a family of five - all boys.

Fourteen years ! Seems like 100. Whatever the number, today is your day so : HAPPY ANNIVERSARY.

PRINCESS FIREFIGHTER

The LADY Friend received this from her granddaughter, a.k.a. "The Princess" and she want to share with friends and neighbors.

COLLIER SHERIFF PUTS TEENS AFLOAT

The Collier County Sheriff's Department, and a group of ten teenagers will launch a boat Friday (14th). Most of us see the deputies either on the water or launching one of their "yachts" at a local boat ramp. Usually that is no big deal, so what is the catch here.

Well let it be noted that this boat is no Donzi, Wellcraft, or Sea Ray. It isn't made with fiberglass either, and to top it off it doesn't' even have a motor.

This is a row boat! It is made of wood! That is correct - wood, as from a tree.

The local yacht builders are ten teenagers, and deputies from our Collier County Sheriff's Dept. The task was a project under the Sheriff's "Build-A- Boat Youth Program.

The program is in its' first year and is being supervised by Lt. Harold Minch. He reported a couple of days ago that “We have a boat that’s just about completed...” The plan is to put it afloat in the waters around Everglades City, after doing a couple of last minute assignments.

The program is designed to: Give youngsters an experience in boat-building and a skill that will be useful in later life. The second goal of the program is to build a positive relationships between the teen boat builders and our Sheriff's Office.

The word from our Captains Quarters' is - Stay the course guys, stay the course!

COOK OUT

All that was needed was a long extension cord to resurrect the Sunday cook out.

V.W. Resident got ultimately got the electric grill working. He then did a decent job cooking up some burgers for the neighbors.

While there was plenty to eat, it was the gift of gab that made this cookout a success. Just maybe there will be another one soon.

YOUNG OFFICER

Up North they are constantly hiring new young officers, but this is ridiculous. That nice looking young lady can't really be a cop, especially in Newark.

She is my Lady's granddaughter. The picture was taken a few months ago, when she showed off an old Newark P.D. baseball cap. There was some reluctance to pose for this picture, but now it has been featured in two newspapers.

The "Police Collectors News" ran the picture with an article relating to the Newark Police; and the NJ Fraternal Order of Police also did a story, but instead used a picture of her grandfather. Her picture, without a doubt, is better. Good going kid, and Happy Birthday !

THE SIX MONTH REPORT

Well it's just a tad over six months since "She" arrived.

Now six months later "She" is something else. Would you believe she is sitting up by herself, and trying real hard to get up and go. This little kid can't be held down.

On top of that the little girl has a "Ain't I cute" attitude. What can I say? We'll keep her.

SUNDAY'S BAR-B-Q CANCELLED

It must be the Call of the North. Nobody is here! At least not enough of us to have the Bar B Q on Sunday. It has been cancelled due insufficient sign ups. That's a shame. The previous one was fun.

AUGUSTS' BIRTHDAY & ANNIVERSARY

Oh me, the first of the month is here again. The "Lady" handed me the calendar and showed me two dates to remember this month. One is the cute granddaughter's birthday, and the other is the daughter, and son-in-laws anniversary.

If I remember I'll address these events on their day. If not, accept the good wishes from this posting. You guys know who you are. Enjoy your special days when they get here.
