HAVE A LAUGH

This cute joke was sent to us by a neighbor with a great set of wheels that he locks up when not driving. Enjoy the story, and watch your car.

A young blond girl in her late teens, wanting to earn some extra money for the summer, decided to hire herself out as a "handy woman" and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighborhood.

She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for her to do.

"Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint the porch" he said. "How much will you charge me?"

Delighted, the girl quickly responded, "How about $50?"

The man agreed and told her that the paint and brushes and everything she would need were in the garage.

The man's wife, hearing the conversation, said to her husband, "Does she realize that our porch goes ALL the way around the house?"

"That's a bit cynical, isn't it?" he responded.

The wife replied, "You're right. I guess I'm starting to believe all those dumb blond jokes."

A few hours later the blond came to the door to collect her money.

"You're finished already??" the startled husband asked.

"Yes," the blond replied, "and I even had paint left over so I gave it two coats."

Impressed, the man reached into his pocket for the $50 and handed it to her along with a $10 tip.

"Thank you," the blond said, "And, by the way, it's not a Porch, it's a Lexus."

TOWN CENTER HOSTS HALOWEEN DANCE

Yesterday there was a Dance at Town Center. naturally the theme was Halloween. Over one hundred residents were there, and most had on there pumpkin ORANGE.

Dinner was served by Rick's Place. The meal was topped off with a great cake that was well worth a second if it could be found.

Billy Dee and Dawn provided the entertainment and they did a great job. Our neighbors were impressed with a great Saxophone sound, and a young lady who hit high notes in a wonderful way. Even this Lady's grumpy "Old Guy" enjoyed the music, but he refused to put on a costume without a prior approval from the community fashion consultant. At least I got him in a colorful Frankenstein shirt, and he said dancing counts as exercise.

At the end of the evening prizes were given out for 50/50, and best costumes. Hope our friend and neighbors enjoy the pictures.

PULTE STOCK

The number near the end of this month was recorded at $7.86

The building in the front property is rolling along. No relationship between building there and the stock from this viewpoint.

SUNDAY'S POOL PARTY

Sunday was a great time at the Town Center Pool. Simply said, We should do more events like this one.

Even the weather (for the most part) cooperated. A few drops here and there certainly did not spoil the day.

We had our friend down for a visit and he joined us for the festivities. Great songs from the 50's and 60's were provided by Jersey Joe who did every song from memory. He saved a great song for my friend bruno who likes everything Bruce Springsteen recorded. It was Jersey Girl, and I am still singing along two days later.

Click on Bruce's picture to listen to a great tune. Thanks to Joe for doing it.

Rick's Place was open and food was available. The fries were hot, hot, hot. Just great. There were cakes too if anyone was interested.

Here is a vote to do this type of event again.

TOWN CENTER BUSINESSES STILL CLOSED

It has been several months since an air conditioning pipe burst causing water damage to the businesses at Town center. They are still closed and deeply missed.

The workers seem to have completed most of the repairs, and although not official we are hoping to see our friends return to their shops before Christmas.

JERSEY FOOTBALL STAR

The kid is in this huddle somewhere.

That's Magnus, number 58. He is quite a player, and a real star up there in Wallkill, NJ. He can read too.

This information was supplied to us by his mother. We are impressed, and pretty sure it is correct.

BEACH PARTY - SUNDAY OCT. 24TH

" Come on Baby, Let me take you on a Sea Cruise." A great sound from years ago by Frankie Ford. Oh it has me in the mood already for a Beach Party, and Town Center will deliver one this Sunday (24Th)

Our local master, Jersey Joe, will do oldies mostly from the 50's and 60's. Just a chance some of our other local singers will be present. Garfunkel and his partner just might be there too. This should be a fun event!

The Party starts at 1:00 PM and Joe will be there to 4:00 PM.

UNHEALTHY POOL

A swimming pool at a home owned by an unidentified Bank has been seriously neglected in one of our neighborhoods. There are probably more than one. It is sad to see this type of deterioration.

As the picture shows the water is brown. In addition the safety fence is not properly secured.

Our Safety Team suggested calling the office of Code Enforcement. This was done in the specific neighborhood where this pool is located and appropriate followup is to come.

Our neighbor provided this number if anyone has an interest: 239 252 2400

GOOD TIME AT OCKTOBERFEST

Saturday Night the parade ended at Rick's. A good crowd was seen entering with their Beer Steins held high.

The Germans in the kitchen produced a great selection of food. The potato salad was great, along with the Red Cabbage. We saw a number of people with their plates piled high. Bruno, our pal from Jersey, and a connoisseur of good eating, gave his approval then danced a wild polka. One could say there was a lot of fun at this years OKTOBERFEST.

Jersey Joe did a great job. We look forward to another neighborhood event with the friends.

A member of our Safety Team sent this link to us last year. He thinks it is worth another look. It shows that a calm response can save a kitchen or house from serious damage. Click on link below.

CASINO BUS RIDES AGAIN

This is great. A late start, and a short ride.

The ladies left me "home alone" while they hitched up a ride to chase that dream of a golden payout at the Seminole Casino.

BOWLING

That Friday group is still active with the bowling.

It start around 9:45 and ends at 12;30 =/-. Our number are increasing and getting near a dozen. It is anticipated that we may have 18 by December.

This is not a league. They are no teams. We are quite happy if three members on the same team hit a 300 collectively. This is a good way to enjoy the day.

RAIN, RAIN, RAIN

On Wednesday (Oct 6) we experienced RAIN of a different kind.

We went to the "Phil" in Naples. We have attended shows here on many occassions. We have nevr been disappointed, and Rain didn't change that at all.

Their show was a tribute to the Beetles by RAIN. It was great. This group has been performing for many year and is now headed to Broadway (NYC) for the next season. New York is in for a treat.

TRAFFIC ENFOPRCEMENT

Our local speed limit is 25 MPH. Even my daughter is required to respect that limit.

I go slow in and out of my garage. That's because I have a friend from the job always on patrol in this area looking to hand out some tickets.

Rules are rules, and they should be enforced. My neighbor has suggested we have our very own police to enforce traffic rules inside our community. He has said we need our own patrol car. Just to be safe maybe we should purchase this car.

Any volunteers, besides my daughter, to drive it ?

FORECLOSURES

A recent news story revealed that there has been an increase in foreclosures.

The story specifically stated ghat there was a 23% increase in South West Florida including Naples and Marco Island. We live in the center of this area.

We should be concerned. At the same time we should be pleased that this community is doing better then just treading water. Keep saying those little silent prayers that we stay OK.
