HAVE A LAUGH

Our neighbors do seem to spend a good deal of time on the computer looking at these jokes. We get a good dozen a month to review. This one is our choice for the month.

A young Arab asks his father:

http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/4833925/2/istockphoto_4833925-arab-father-and-son.jpg

What is this weird hat that we are wearing?

Why, it's a "chechia" because in the desert it protects our heads from the sun!

And what is this type of clothing that we are wearing?

It's a "djellabah" because in the desert it is very hot and it protects your body!

And what are these ugly shoes that we have on our feet?

These are "babouches", which keep us from burning our feet when in the desert!

Tell me Father - " Why then are we living in Dearborn, Michigan and still wearing all this stuff?"

PULTE STOCK

We tracked this stock for a year and found it fun and interesting. Of course we did not make any money with it. None the less we will do it again in 2011.

At the end of December, and the year 2010, Pulte Stock closed at $7.46

The starting figure in January was $10.55 That is roughly a loss of 30%. The company is building as if the stock went up. Maybe it is time to purchase. As of the first of the year we will make a hypothetical purchase of 100 shares just to see how it goes in 2011. That will be 100 shares at $7.46 or $746 total investment.

PAUL ANKA SHOW

New Years Eve will be something different for the "Old Guy" across the street, and his Queen. No going out, or having the gang come to his home. This year They are going to a show at the Naples Philharmonic.

Somehow they got tickets to see a favorite of the Queen - Paul Anka.

It should be a good night. Reports from the area say Paul Anka still does a very good show. We hope it is a great night and great start for 2011.

SEASONAL GUEST

It's that time of they year when family and friends are on the move to enjoy Christmas with each other. We are no different, only we don't move that much.

We will enjoy the holiday with our daughter who lives here, along with her three angels (Well it is Christmas so just maybe they will act like angels).

In addition we will have another daughter "Drop in" on us for a few days. Hope she doesn't crash into that funny sleigh powered by reindeer.

PIZZA FOR CERT TEAM

For the second year in a row the Community C.E.R.T. Team had a Pizza Party. It was at Town Center. The event took place on Thursday (Dec 23).

Our neighbor was present along with several friends and neighbors. There were roughly forty people there including one special friend "from the (old) job." They traded smiles and joined with everyone to have a great time.

Pizza was delivered by Rick's Place. Because we were so close to the oven it was hot, just the way it should be. We were told there wasn't a single piece left. That's great.

Our little guy was a tad sad that he couldn't go. He says he practices real hard with that ancient fire extinguisher his grandfather has, but still he must wait a few more years. We will keep him motivated and his fire extinguisher ready.

SNAKE AT TOWN CENTER

You had to be there to know about this story. It seems a long, slim, slithery creature was found around noon time on Friday (17Th). No doubt about it - It was a Rattle Snake. This critter had the real tail unlike the one in that TV commercial.

The Lady thought she heard "Rat." She stared out the window of Rick's Place looking over toward the convenience store for quite a few minutes before it became clear to her that what was said was: "They caught a snake." I was said to be about five feet in Length.

Maintenance workers came to help the man, who somehow got a plastic barrel over the critter. The workers slid a piece of plywood under the barrel, then lifted it up. They took the barrel, and snake, to a distant location, and, we presume, released it. Good bye, and Thank God no one hurt.

Our Safety Team told us to remind our friends to keep their eyes open at all times. With the building going on around us these creatures and other s are looking for space to call home.. Do not engage anything you see. Step back and get away from it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY - LJ

December is a tough month to have a birthday. Our Princess will tell you that. Either you don't get enough "Spot Light" or your gift might get combined with your Christmas gift.

Well L .J. taught us 25 years ago: Birthday is Birthday; and Christmas is Christmas. That means TWO GIFTS.

Well today is your day, and you have been properly spotlighted here. Hope you enjoy the day.

By the way your father was thinking about a Lexus, only if he could combine presents. He was told very clearly: "No Way" (by Editor in Chief).

NAPLES BOAT PARADE

On Saturday (Dec 11) a group from the community spent the night at Tin City getting in the Holiday Mood.

The first order of business was a great dinner at The RiverWalk. While we ate we had a great view of the Boats on the Gordon River getting ready for the parade.

Dinner was followed by a trip on the Double Sunshine into Naples Bay. We saw all the boats and heard quite a few. We got a few pictures which tell the story of a great night.

BEST SHOTS FROM CRUISE: FINAL SEGMENT

After Pisa our tour group visited Rome, then Athens, and finally Turkey.

The Greek Island of Santorini was sandwiched in between the above major visits. It was quite nice, and quit high. Although it was beautiful it just didn't hit the eye in the same way as the above historical locations so the "best Shots" here will be limited to the Colosseum, Acropolis, and the Home of the Virgin Mary.

Now that the picture review is complete it is back to seasonal shopping and related matters.

LOCAL NEIGHBORS PARTY AND SING CHRISTMAS SONGS

One of our neighborhood reporter's observed a Christmas Party in the area of Novarra Ct. on Tuesday Evening.

The mood was Christmas alright. Lights were on the trees, the flower pots, and Garage. If it didn't move it had a light on it. Red, Green, and White everywhere one looked. FPL is sure happy about that.

Outside the temperature was cold. All that was needed was that little rain deer leading a big old sleigh through some snow.

Inside the temperature was much better, and the folks gathered around the tree to sing songs for a couple of hours. The TV screen showed the words, and our friend, Jersey Joe strummed his guitar and helped everyone reach the high notes.

This was a great time, and it was enjoyed by all.

COUNTRY SONG BY JERSEY JOE

We have been informed that our local hero was shopping recently at Costco. There he discovered caskets were for sale. They can be viewed on the way out of the store, next to a selection of plantation shutters.

Jersey Joe was so inspired he found this tune which he sent us to share with our local friends.

Listen to the song, but there is no need to rush to Costco for these items.

PEARL HARBOR

War Poster - Pearl Harbor

Most of the local neighbors were infants or just kids when Pearl Harbor was attacked.

Despite the fact that we were so young and not in touch with the reality of Dec. 7, 1941 we learned about that day. Today we can recall that event as if it just happened.

Remembering our history is good. Learning from these events is also good. Take a second and remember this day and its impact on us.

God Bless the USA.

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

There was a Community CHRISTMAS TREE lighting yesterday at Town Center.

The festivities ran from 7:00 to 8:30. Residents got to place their own ornament on the tree, and were entertained by The Mismatched Socks.

Coffee and dessert topped the evening.

MORE "BEST SHOTS" FROM EUROPEAN CRUISE

The recent two week trip made to EUROPE, and ASIA, made its first "port of call" in France.
There were several land tours available, and one went to the seaside town of Cassie. The picture that we like the most is of the local harbor surrounded by its colorful buildings.

The next "port of call" was in Italy. This was one of the major reasons for traveling in the first place. Here we saw and climbed the famous Tower and took this picture (and a ton more).

The painting on the ceiling inside the Cathedral is the final shot in this post.

LOTTO WINNER

The big winner so far at Mattie's Place is $500.

This figure is since our convenience store re-opened after the flood. It's found money for someone, and a reason to take a chance yourself.

This Lady is going to check the Old Guy's wallet and buy a few with high hopes. Maybe he just might get a Klondike Bar.

MAGNUS MVP

The news was just received from New Jersey. The Lady's grandson was named Most Valuable Player by his teammates.

Magnus plays for the Wallkill Valley Team. They are located in North N.J.

He is a good kid and does his homework too. We are proud of him !!!

BEST SHOTS FROM MEDITERRANEAN

This is the first post on that great cruise around Europe. It will take a couple more to give everyone a glimpse at those great areas we visited.

Our first stop was Barcelona. We stayed there for a couple of days and had plenty of time to see areas of interest.

These pictures are of the Olympic Colosseum, The Cathedral by Gaudi still under construction.

A couple other shots include some nice views, and Columbus Arch

DECEMBER - DATES TO REMEMBER

The Queen was ready to smack me if I forget this birthday during the month.

Her baby, and THE Current Princess, is celebrating her 25th this month.

Look for her picture around mid month.
