HAVE A LAUGH

No ill feelings intended for those with blond hair, but a neighbor sent this to us to share with everyone. Enjoy it!!!

A police officer stops a blond for speeding and asks her very nicely if he could see her drivers license.

She replied in a huff, "I wish you guys would get your act together. Just yesterday you take away my license and then today you expect me to show it to you!"

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

One more Saturday. The guys are stuffed from Thanksgiving, but they are ready for some activity involving the old pigskin this weekend. They say to "The Big Game" on Saturday is Florida v Florida. That is Gators v Seminoles.

My experts are "leaning" towards that Gators. They have a lot to motivate them. On the other hand the Bowden Coached Seminoles have a lot to motivate them too.

The consensus is this will be a close, low scoring game with Gators on top after overtime. You can bet your ranch on this pick.

JERSEY GIRL CALLS ON AVON

News from the Jersey Clan. One of the girls is going to join the Avon Team. At least that is what my Lady told me. Well being a natural beauty I don't need any of that stuff. But when my little girl called and asked if her website could be included in this blog I couldn't refuse.

Every now and then we'll post a note on "Avon" for her. It's either posted here, or the NY Times will do it.

Here is her website: www.youravon.com/ckillian and the email address:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Another year has gone by, and Thanksgiving is upon us again. This V.W.Resident is still thinking about last year and all that turkey. Well guess it's time to do it over again. This time the "daughter" gets to be host. She cooks well enough, and i am sure she will do a great job with "all the fixins." My only worry is she doesn't like football. That could be a problem. Nonetheless Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends, neighbors and kids.

WELCOME NEW RESTAURANT

The Bistro has changed ownership and its name. It is now: RICK'S PLACE.

Residents have an important interest in this establishment, so lets hope it is successful.

A Grand Opening special is being offered which sounds quite nice: Bottle of wine, salad, and an entree for $30 (plus tax/tip).

Best of Luck !!!

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Is the interest in College football falling off. Last week the "experts" failed to send in the best pick for Saturday. Today they are saying there will be a lot of close games, but one that could be a huge blow out is Oklahoma. This team might be trying to get back into the top ten so motivated they just may be. That's the pick: The Sooners of Oklahoma in a rout.

DOLPHIN GAME

This was a miracle game on more than one front.

V.W.Resident took his grandson to this game for the second year in a row. Initially he was a little bored going to the game, but was one happy guy coming home.

The kid boasted that he made friends with everyone on the bus. While I watched him from a distance he threw a football with "the guy's," and talked his head off with everyone in the parking lot. After this "play time" it became "tailgate time."

For sure his Mom better not say I didn't feed him. We all ate pretty good, especially Mr. Zachary. He did say he wanted cheese fries, but settled on two boxes in the football pool. He's got to learn about gambling sometime, so I figured this was a good time to teach him. Well after the game the winner was announced. Don't you know it - He actually won.

All the way home he told me how he wanted to spend this money on some electronic game. He was afraid his cash would evaporate. Kids!

On the field I was impressed with the huge flag that was rolled out for our National Anthem. This certainly was impressive, and one of the things I really enjoyed. I also liked the fireworks that they did during the team introductions. Some of the flames went a good 50 feet in the air. It made me feel like a kid.

Near the end of the game someone asked my Grandson who he was rooting for. He explained how he was a Patriot fan, and was anti Dolphins; but he was really focused on points scored and those possible winnings. The man told him: "Go for the money." The kid's smile was "priceless."

We started to leave at the 2:00 minute warning. The Dolphins were ahead, and I certainly thought "Game Over." We were joined by thousands who missed two score changes. In the end the Dolphin's scored last to win the game. The clock ran out and the game was over. What a game and, as noted "my boy" also won the football pool.

I hope the kid remembers the day. I don't think I'll ever forget it. Truly a Great Day in paradise.

CASINO RUN

Saturday was a good day. V.W.Resident was taken to the east Coast for a day at the casino. It was a full bus load, and ended with a huge win of $38. That's better then a loss.

DINNER AND DANCE

Friday night was date night. There was a Community Dance at the Town Center. My Lady got all worked up about music, dancing and wine. I set my thoughts on food.

Once there I did find my toes tapping. Eventually my feet hit the floor and did there thing. Many of our friends were caught smiling and having a fun too.

There were lots of old tunes. A lot of people managed to wiggle a little on the dance floor. The party ended at Florida Midnight - 10:00 PM. It was a great evening.

Entertainment was provided by "Cahlua & Cream". These guys have been here before. They do a good job, and they have their own website to checkout - www.cahluaandcream.com

IT'S OFFICIAL: WE "GOT" LOTTO

We just saw an email from the activities office advising the residents that the LOTTO has arrived in our community. Some people will be real happy with the opportunity to play, and we wish them the best of luck. V.W Resident can't wait for a party when we have our first million dollar winner.

LOTTO SCHOOL

We just learned that the owners of Mattie's place have attended a class relating to managing the Florida Lottery.

This is good news. If things go right the chance of Lotto machines being introduced to our community is only a few days away. This V.W Resident is already checking out his nickle jar and dreaming of becoming a winner.

STAGE COACH RIDE TO CASINO

On Monday a small group of pioneers from the community got on the little bus from Dolphin Tours and headed way out into the woods to the Seminole Casino in Immokolee. It was a nice day, and twenty good souls were home by 3:00 PM.

V.W. Resident and his Lady took the ride and enjoyed the day. We did our part to stimulate the economy. At the end of the day one of us got a $40. cash bail out in exchange for those machine tickets. That is a definite plus. We plan to stockpile the money and buy lottery tickets at Mattie's Place.

GREASE AT BARBARA MANN

V.W.RESIDENT may be getting old, but Wednesday was a nice trip back to yesterday. A short ride took us with good friends to Barbara B Mann theater on Edison College Campus.Just like teenagers we sat in the balcony and had a center aisle view of a great show Grease. In January the theater will do a performance of Jersey Boy's and we are ready to do it again.

THE GHOSTS DANCED LAST SATURDAY

Here I am living in a Florida community. No Job as this V.W. Resident is retired.

So what do I do. I let the Lady dress me up like a kid, and take me out to the Dance at our Town Center. There were ghosts all over the place. Crazy costumes too. One Lady looked like a tree. She should come to my home and stand in for some of my plants. Even the lady with the pie was dressed up as a cat.

This guy didn't see any Ghost Whisperer around, so he made himself content to just sit with the Lady and deal with some different kind of spirits. They worked fine, and nobody told me to "cross over." There was even a Nun and Priest chasing the ghosts, and forgiving some sins.

The music was good. You had to like it or be arrested. The one singer was NYPD. Lots of people were observed tapping their feet. Me too. On occassion I shook my feet a little on the dance floor. That made for some fun. The songs brought back memories, nice ones. A good night it was. Hope to do it next year.

CALI IS JUST "SNAKING" AROUND

What is the name of that snake that slithers across the terrain real fast? If it didn't have a name already, Little Miss Cali could be nominated for the title: Fastest Little Snake on Earth. The little critter is nice to hug and hold IF only one can catch her. Love that smile.

NOVEMBER: BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES

Good God, the first of the month is here again. The "Lady" handed me the calendar and showed me four dates to remember this month. One person is getting old for sure.

If I remember I'll address the appropriate events on their day. If not, accept the good wishes from this posting: Jason, Gunnar, Dennis, and Hayley. Enjoy your special days, and try to stay young.

SNAKE WARNING

One of our neighbors just told us that there "was" a snake in our community.

Their warning was to "Be On The Lookout" for a snake, with a rattle. It has a very nasty bite if it gets its' fangs into you. If you see one stay clear of it !

The particular species of this snake is Eastern Diamond Back Rattlesnake and this is the land area that they live in. This guy is quite poisonous. The one that was reported to us was said be four and a half feet long. The fangs were an inch and a half long.

The one our neighbor told us about is no longer a threat, however one should always exercise caution when outside. No need to panic, but be careful everyone. Thanks to the V.W. Neighbor who contributed this.
