Boil Water Notice

Yesterday a water pipe broke in the area of Collier Blvd. We were unable to obtain any information about the situation. This morning we learned, from other residents, that a Boil Water Alert is in existence.

Check your news stations for further information.

Seven Dollar Dance

Excuse me, but I have "two left feet" and they both hurt. That's because I enjoyed April's "Seven Dollar Dance," and I am looking forward to "dancing up a storm."

This monthly event is a true bargain. The music always brings back good memories. I particularly liked seeing Roy Orbison on that viewing screen from one of his old concerts. I didn't know the "DJ" could do that sort of "stuff."

We went with neighbors, but of course we are all neighbors here. We also brought some good wine which helped me enjoy the night even more. My head hurts the next day. I wonder why.

This V. W. Resident will be at the next event May 9 2008. Hope to see you there.

Gone Fishing

In case you didn't notice there have been "No Posts" in a couple of days. Thats because V. W. Resident took a couple of days off.

I'd like to tell you about the big Marlin I caught. It was a few miles out off Key Largo. The good news is: It was on someone else's line, and V.W. R. was on shore.

The truth is I can't fish. If I ever went in a boat that far off shore to fish, I absolutely would not put bait on the hook! I might not even use a hook.

For the real fishermen I left the fish for you, but I did enjoy the sunsets. Here is one for my friends and kids to enjoy too.

Now back to work !

Stop Sign's Vandalized

Someone vandalized several "Stop Signs" and a "Neighborhood Watch Sign" on Verona Walk Blvd. near the preserve area. The damage was observed by a number of residents early Wednesday. We are unaware of any witnesses.

V W Resident has no information regarding either clean up costs or replacement costs. Those costs do impact on all of us. Needless to say this artistic expression needs to be re-evaluated by the "artist."

WARNING TO MY FRIENDS

V. W. Resident has received a report that there has been a situation in the OAKMONT Homes.

Apparently in one home a mirror fell off the wall. It was located in the master suite. It shattered on the floor. The good news is nobody was admiring their handsome face when it fell.

The suggestion made by a V. W. Neighbor is to examine all mirrors. Our Safety Team says: Make sure they are not loose. Most hardware stores sell a mirror bracket that you may want to consider. Be Safe.

New Stop Sign

This is for my friends, neighbors and especially my daughter !

A change has been made! Pay attention to the intersection in front of Town Center. It is now a three way STOP. Thats VeronaWalk Blvd. and Sorrento.

Hope this "Post" makes you aware of the change, and for my daughter I am going to buy a checkered flag to slow her down. Actually she is pretty good driver, and obeys traffic signs.

Naples Zoo

Did you know that the First Saturday of the month admission is free for Collier County Residents. Thats us. Even V.W. can afford it.

The County has done a nice job since becoming the owners. If you have "time on your hands" you might enjoy going through it. They provide a map, lectures, shows and a boat ride. You can also watch them feed the "Gators."

If you go stay away from the 18 FOOT PYTHON. Hard to believe a snake can get that large. It took three trainers to carry this guy.

Pass the "info" on to your friends - Free Admission: First Saturday of the Month.

Grandaughter

Okay, I found those pictures I said I would look for in the earlier post on The Waterways dated April 14.

The one on the left is the view I think needs some "TLC. " Just "my" opinion. Enough said on that.

Now on the right is "The Granddaughter."

She could also be described as "THE TEENAGER." She almost smiled here. I can't complain about that as she did "allow" me to take this picture. Can you tell Mr V. W. Resident likes this kid.

Blog To Continue

You will see that there have been no "posts" in a few days. During that time Mr Resident, (V. W.) to my friends, considered the strong suggestion that this blog be "put to sleep." Emails were forwarded to me that, quite frankly, caused a good deal of serious emotional turmoil in the Press Room.

V.W. Resident, and family are good people. We generally love it here. We more than likely will go out of our way to help someone, rather than cause a hurt.

We understand and appreciate constructive criticism. However, the threat of "legal action" was unfair, unwarranted and very hurtful. It was particularly disturbing that the pressure to terminate this blog was offered without any review of its content.

It would be easy to "cave in" and end the V W Resident, but that is not going to happen.

We shall continue. We will share this blog "only" with a limited audience, primarily our kids, our neighbors and our friends. Our focus will be the fun things we are doing; the things we like (maybe dislike); "tid bits" about community events; and most important information that might be valuable. In addition, readers of this blog will be admitted by "invitation only." That is intended to establish a barrier for the public at large. With these changes we hope we can all "go forward," and have many more good days in paradise.

Restriced Access for News Letter

Only a few days old and the V W Resident's existence is facing scrutiny. It has been conveyed to us that this newsletter may have a negative impact on future sales, and also is not wanted by Pulte Corporation or SW Management. These concerns will be given serious consideration as we ponder our right to exist.

Pending a decision to continue operating this blog the V W RESIDENT has voluntarily limited access to this site. This means if a person finds the site and attempts to enter they "should"l see a screen that advises them that their entry has been blocked.

Hopefully the issue of Mr. Resident's existence will be resolved quickly.

General Electric Appliances

GE has set up a special telephone number for V W Residents to call for service on refrigerators. The company reportedly has said they will make repairs on their product when necessary "regardless of warranty status." The number for your records is 1-866 380-3490

The Day The Woods Burned

It has been almost a year since the "woods" burned. V W Resident was there along with quite a few concerned neighbors.

We remember looking to the South as the preserve burned quietly. All of a sudden there was a muffled explosion in the air. The flames jumped some 100 feet into the air, and the fire extended itself from Valentina Ct. to Umberto Ct. The sky was dark and hot ashes fell to the ground igniting mulch around a neighbors house.

This was an experience to say the least. An old friend was down and ironically was wearing a shirt that read "Newark Fire Dept". He seemed to enjoy the flames. I didn't. The fire tells us that "our woods" are fragile. With the anniversary coming up this June lets be aware of our environment. Keep your eyes open and have a plan in the event of a repeat performance.

I like the picture of the "Smoke & cloudy Sun" the best, but I'd rather not be clicking pictures of this ever again.

The Waterways at Verona Walk

Hi. I am your neighbor V W Resident. I recently observed how nice our front waterways look. The location facing the entry bridge provided a great picture opportunity during a recent visit by relatives. I plan to use this location for future picture opportunities. I'll try and dig out the picture I took picture of "my pal. " I'll share it with you later, along with a view that needs some TLC.

I really like this shot of the bridge. What do you think?

Gate to Paradise

This is the gate to our paradise. Roughly 1200 Home Owners live here. For the most part it is a good experience to go through this gate. Straight ahead is Town Center. This is the hub of our community. It is surrounded on all sides by what we call "home." We are all neighbors, but that doesn't mean we all know each other. The great thing is we are working on it.
