HAVE A LAUGH

Thanks neighbor. I have been recieving all those jokes you send, but very few can be published here. Try to remember "censorship" and that: He's watching !

Have a laugh at this one.

I was traveling between West Palm Beach and Boca Raton the other day (south
of Jupiter) when a tire blew out. Checking my spare, I found that it, too,
was flat. My only option was to flag down a passing motorist and get a ride
to the next town.

The first vehicle to stop was an old man in a van. He yelled out the window,
"Need a lift?"

"Yes, I sure do," I replied.

"You a Republican or Democrat," asked the old man.

"Republican," I replied.

"Well, you can just go to Hell," yelled the old man as he sped off.

Another guy stopped, rolled down the window, and asked me the same question.

Again, I gave the same answer, "Republican."

The driver gave me the finger and drove off. I thought it over and decided
that maybe I should change my strategy, since this area seemed to be overly
political and there appeared to be few Republicans. The next car to stop was
a red convertible driven by a beautiful blonde. She smiled seductively and
asked if I was a Republican or Democrat.

"Democrat!" I shouted.

NINE VOLT BATTERIES NEED TO BE STORED SAFELY

A friend sent us this you-tube video about nine volt batteries. Take a look at it by clicking on "you-tube" in the box below.

These are the same batteries in smoke alarms in our community. Bottom line be careful with them.

CANDIDACY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2015 BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITION

Dennis Beyer has indicated that it is his intention to be a Candidate for a position on our H.O.A. Board of Directors in 2015.

He has lived here since 2006, along with wife Lois. Prior to residing here they lived on Marco Island, and Chatham, NJ.

They both are involved in many community activities, and enjoy the friendship that has evolved from participating in these events. He has managed our Community TV (195), Volunteered with Activities Office, contributed in creation of CERT, and served on Board of Directors of our Performing Arts Center.

While on a fixed pension they manage their pennies so they can enjoy life here in our Community. Dennis has a degree in Public Administration, and several years experience in managing budgets.

For fun they frequently visit Disney World.   Some say this is a their second home. He likes the characters that are on display during the Flower Show.

At home they appreciate the many amenities, services, and protection that come to us as part of the monthly fees. As homeowners
they pay their quarterly dues on time simply because that is what is expected.

If given the opportunity to serve the friends we have in the Community, Dennis will do his best to do what is expected of him. He knows how to monitor and report on a budget. He knows that residents do not want to hear: "90 minutes talk about tennis line items; and only 90 seconds  talk regarding the major items in our budget. This is an area that needs improvement."

Sounds good for now. We are sure other residents will join the list of those wanting to make positive changes for our Community. We will keep you posted.

PULTE STOCK

Good God, It is November !!!   The year is going too fast, and this stock seems to be moving slowly. What a mix.

Our original investment, with imaginary funding, was $6.42  Over the years we are ahead, but I don't think retirement is in view based on this investment.

The value is now  $21.63

ENJOY YOUR THANKSGIVING

To Our Friends and Family we wish  you a very

 Happy Thanksgiving !!!

JFK ASSINATION REMEMBERED

Where were you Nov. 22 1963. ?

That was the day of President Kennedy's assassination. It is now 51 years later.

Just think how many citizens of the USA were not even born  yet. To some of us it seems like yesterday.

I Wonder what really happened and why.

I have read books, and I have watched the Oliver Stone movie with mild interest. Bottom line, I just don't know. Do you?

LADIES HAVE LUNCH AT NAPLES BOTANICAL GARDEN

The Ladies from The WALK are having their monthly luncheon at the Naples Botanical Gardens today.

The good news is there isn't any snow on the horizon. The bad news is it is kinda cool outside. Long sleeves are a must, and maybe a sweater.

An enjoyable day should be in order. Our group will enjoy flowers, plants and maybe a butterfly. Have fun everyone.

Mark that calender - Dec. 17

The Guys have been talking about it for sometime now. One month to go. Your cost will be $19 p/p.

Keep your eyes open for the official (email) notice.

FOOTBALL JERSEY STYLE

The "Old Guy" was stressed out about seeing his grandsons play high school football.

First he couldn't find the school. The *^#^! GPS didn't help either, It wanted all the info we didn't have. But after a short time we found the school.

We were at a beautiful playing field in the mountains of Morris County There were plenty of tall green trees blending with those losing their leaves. A perfect setting

Next we learned that one of the teams hadn't lost in three/four years. The bad news was they were the opposition. Oh well. I did get some pictures and they are included herein. Enjoy.

BOWLING DAYS ARE FUN

The Activities office has arranged for a good price on Friday's for our residents. It is $13.66

After lunch the bowlers attend a nice lunch with each other at a different restaurant in Naples.

This is a fun event and worth participating in. Give it a shot.

CDD COST UP

Wow, I think I am going to need a face mask and snorkel to help my wallet stay afloat.

The Tax Bill for next year just came in, and that little fee in the lower  left corner for "Community Improvement" to an additional $100 + from the old wallet.

When we purchased we knew there was a bond that we were paying off and a CDD Board responsible for our Lakes and waterways. Each year that we have resided here the charge has been in the area of $750

Earlier this year we heard about the proposed increase and we understand that the increase was just. The Board has a good record of holding the line and keeping the Lakes looking good. It is just that, being on a fixed income, makes it feel like we are drowning in our beautiful waterways. That's life.

BASEBALL HALL OF FAME

While we were in Jersey visiting our guy with the camera went with friends up to Cooperstown NY. This was beautiful country, and the people were tremendous. I had to check to confirm I was in NY.

There is a beautiful lake that has its shoreline on this quaint Village. I managed a walk by the boardwalk and took  picture or two.

The main focus of this trip was to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was quite an experience, and there were plenty of pictures. Some are below. Enjoy them, and take this trip if you have a chance.

TOWN CENTER SALUTES OUR VETRANS

Today is a busy and emotional Tuesday at Town Center. It is a community salute to our veterans.

This is a regular thing on Veterans Day. The room is packed and eyes always reveal a tear or two.

We enjoy helping out with the camera. We donate pictures for the residents and for a memory booklet prepared by the Day's Sponsor.

Here are a couple. Enjoy them.

THURSDAY NIGHT BOARD MEETING RESULTS IN A NEW TOOL FOR TRAFFIC LAW ENFORCEMENT

After a nice visit up in the Garden State where we enjoyed beautiful Fall colors we returned to our abode in warm Collier County. It was nice to leave the doors open and just enjoy our view.

Less then twenty-four hours (Nov. 6) home there was a Board Meeting. This one was at 6:00 PM at the Town Center. About 150  residents were there.

The minutes are now complete and can be viewed on line. That is the official site. The next meeting is Nov 14.

Of the items discussed on the 6th the Board agreed to enter into a contract with the Sheriff for traffic enforcement. Under the terms of the contract our Community has agreed to contract a sheriffs officer for a minimum of three hours at a time to patrol and enforce traffic laws.

The Board may select to use this means of enforcing traffic rules from one to as many times as desired with a three hour minimum. This enforcement tool can be very effective if utilized in a carefully planned manner.

We support our Board entering into this contract, after all we want  safe drivers in our Community. Take it slow. There is no need to drive like you are being chased by bad guys as pictured below on movie  set.

You can do your part, and be a good driver.

GOOD DAY IN GOODLAND

The VeronaWalk Gentlemen did that monthly luncheon, but without their host. He was up North.

The replacement host  did a great job, and we had another large crowd.

In addition to the regular lunch next month there was an announcement that the Guy's will be sponsoring a Seasonal Party on Dec 17. This includes the wives or significant other. It will be at Sam Snead's. Mark your calender.

Also enjoy another lunch later this month (3rd Thursday) sponsored by Romeos at the Cafe.

2015 BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION

Following the resignation of the Builders' Member on our Board of Directors,  Dennis, our blog publisher submitted his name for consideration as the replacement.

Since the seat was filled on a temporary basis by the Board, winning the seat on a permanent basis would be an uphill battle. Why try?

If you want something you don't turn and walk away, you make the effort. So a resume was submitted, and a mini campaign by friends and neighbors, created a choice for the Board regarding the empty Seat; But the effort also gave positive exposure for our good friend and neighbor. In the end the Board chose another resident. That was OK, and we offered our support to the winning Candidate.

Our next Election will be in March of 2015. It is good news that Dennis Beyer will again submit his name as a candidate for our VW Board of Directors in 2015.

ELECTION DAY

Today is that Tuesday where we are supposed to vote. Our Governors race is said to be close so if you have not voted get in the car and do so now.

Also keep an eye on the Water District election. Two of our residents have squared off and face each other.

CRITICAL OBSERVATION REGARDING BUDGET MEETING

There is no intent here to undermine or attack our Board of Directors. We regard them as friends, however even our friends get Goofy every now and then.

We think it is Goofy, to be polite, that at the public meeting to adopt the budget our Board spent around ninety minutes discussing a minimal tennis issue, and only a couple of minutes on a major increase in the salary line, as well as the addition of new hiring.

NOVEMBER DATES TO NOTE

It is either him or her making a couple notes here on the first of each month. Not this time, well almost not this time.

The "Trusty Neighbor" did not find any notes to enter, so I did some back checking. Guess what I found. I think this one is real important.  Lets see if the "Old Guy" catches it. Look in the second half of the month.
