PULTE STOCK

Even in the heat of summer our eye is still on the builders stock. Remember our imaginary investment of $6.42. It has grown while my hopes of getting a job with the company has diminished. Worse is the value seems to be on a downward trend.

When last checked the stock was selling around  $15.98

Too bad we can't really sell. I could use the GREEN, and our Stock Analyst doesn't like the direction this stock has taken. It is a good time to make the decision to sell or hold. 

HAVE A LAUGH

Thank God for my neighbors with a sense of humor. Here is one of their recent forwards for our posting. Hope you enjoy it.

A balding, white haired man from Chebacco Lake Florida, walked into a jewelry store this past Friday evening with a beautiful much younger gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.

The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.The man said, "No, I'd like to see something more special."

At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000," the jeweler said. The lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. 

The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it."

The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the man stated, "By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon."

On Monday morning, the jeweler angrily phoned the old man and said, "There's no money in that account."

"I know," said the old man,  "But let me tell you about my GREAT WEEKEND!"

BIG BIRTHDAY PARTY - 86 YEARS AND STILL STRONG

This past weekend we left VeronaWalk and took a long trip up to Apopka. WE got near Disney, but believe it or not, We did not stop.

The purpose of the trip was to celebrate the "Old Guy's" uncle's Birthday. Russell was 86. He sounded and bounced around better then some couch potato's we know.

It was a fun time. We saw a lot of family members who we normally don't see, and that made the day great for catching up on the past.

ANOTHER PICTURE OF SOMETHING NICE

This really does look good.  The young lady is a frequent visitor to VeronaWalk. Therefore My Queen, and daughter (Mom), say I must publish this picture of Cowgirl Cali.

She is our shy granddaughter. Can you believe that ?

LAKES STILL LOOKING GOOD

Late August - Our lakes are full, and, from our prospective, are looking good.

We last wrote about a problem home, but that does not represent the total picture within this community. These problem houses are a drop in the bucket in terms of a problem. That is a positive thing.

Instead of looking at those problem houses, it is time to enjoy the water views, and nice bridges that we have here. They make a great view.

ANOTHER PROBLEM HOME

Good God.  What are the chances of two disaster homes sitting next to one another on the same street. Well we have it. 

This bed of filth is a second offender. Over a year ago a solid cover, over a wood frame, was put in place and a lock was installed on both screen doors. Good job, but apparently no follow up by bank that owns this problem property.

In the year that has passed Weeds have grown against the privacy wall (don't try it yourself - you will get a letter). The deck looks like it is painted black. It isn't. That is black algae or mold. 

With the a/c off mold is probably in the walls inside this home. Disgusting and a danger to your health.  

A new complaint has been filed - CEPM 0130011340 (8/13/13).

We Hope the Court doesn't forgive the fines and charges when the case is disposed of because a banker needs to get his year end bonus for doing such a great job. 

Again we ask can you believe two in a row on same street. Disgusting !

HAWAII TRIP

We had a great time in Hawaii. It was our "trip of a lifetime." But every trip ends. In our case we were very glad to get home to our Community. We have everything here that Hawaii has, plus all the  good people  who make VeronaWalk  our home !

On the way to Hawaii we did a stop at the USS Midway in San Diego. Certainly it is a place to see. Glad we visited it.

In Honolulu we toured the USS Arizona and also saw the USS Missouri. They mark the beginning and end of World War Two. This was a side trip that we looked forward to doing, and we were not disappointed. We got a picture of the well polished ships' bell.

On the cruise we saw Diamond Head, and A Volcano erupting into the ocean spewing hot red lava into a black sky. That was some- thing to see and we are glad to share one of the "Old Guy's" best shots of it. We also got dragged along to a Volcano that was just steaming.

What would Hawaii be if not for Beaches, Hula Girls, and Horses too. We saw them all.

ANNIVERSARY IN NJ

Our daughter is doing her 19th anniversary today. 

Cheryl and her family are enjoying life in the Garden State. Believe it or not she has five sons. Wow

STATUS ON THE "RAT TRAP"s

"Rat Trap" case is being forwarded to Court where a Magistrate will decide on further action. The unknown owner failed to comply with an initial order by Code Enforcement thus a hearing has been set for Sep. 6, 2013. 

Since the complaint (CEPM 20130008645) was filed in June the process has slowly , but effectively, moved forward. 

Thieves also appear to have moved on the empty home and removed at least one fan (see lanai picture above). The Sheriff's Office has investigated this matter.

GOOD TIME AT ELKS CLUB

Even though it was August, and VeronaWalk is supposed to be a ghost town, a good size crowd showed up for the August Luncheon by the VeronaWalk Gentlemen's Group.

Our reporter was present and he said the food was very good, as was the price.

The group stuck to their agenda, and certainly there was plenty of fun during the meeting. Two Gentlemen (Roger and Gene) from our community did a great job organizing this event. 

We will keep you posted on next months lunch when information is available.

PEARL HARBOR

They did it again.  Called without checking time zone information.

Guess they were excited. Their cruise is over and now they are resting in Honolulu.

I should get some rest too. Managing this blog really is work!  I think the guy who invented the cell phone  needs to take a break too. 

The "Old Guy" said he would post better shots after getting home, but this is the Arizona Memorial and He wants it posted NOW. Here it is via his cell phone.

AUGUST GENTLEMEN'S LUNCH AT ELKS CLUB

Gentlemen your next lunch will be at the Elks Club on Wednesday August 7.

A couple of our community's finest are members of the Elks Club and have worked for several months to assure our Gentlemen that they will have an excellent lunch.

Based on the attendance last month another large crowd is expected. The agenda will provide food, fun and friendship.

If you plan to go remember to make your reservation.

AUGUST DATES TO REMEMBER

They are away and  his Lady  knows he didn't think anything about planning ahead with the notes regarding family birthdays etc. 

There is actually a wedding anniversary. I think he will be glad the "Trusty Neighbor" checked and is leaving this reminder for him to make his usual comment.
