HAVE A LAUGH

One of the neighbors has again made us smile with this joke. She sent it to us to share. Hope you like it.

THE AFTERLIFE

A Couple made a deal that whoever died first would come back and inform the other if there is sex after death.

Their biggest fear was that there was no after life at all.

After a long life together, the husband was the first to die.

True to his word, he made the first contact:
                           " Marion ... Marion "

                             "Is that you, Bob?"

"Yes, I've come back like we agreed."

                    "That's wonderful!   What's it like?"

"Well, I get up in the morning, I have sex. I have breakfast and then it's off to the golf course.

I have sex again, bathe in the warm sun and then have sex a couple of more times.

Then I have lunch. You'd be proud of me - Lots of Greens. Another romp around the golf course, then pretty much have sex the rest of the afternoon. After supper, it's back to golf course again.
Then it's more sex until late at night. I catch some much needed sleep and then the next day it starts all over again"

"Oh, Bob are you in Heaven?"

                    "No...I'm a rabbit in Texas .

PULTE STOCK

This "Stock" is like a horse race.

It quickly fell to the rear of the pack and, honestly, looked like it needed a bailout. The price was just above $4.00.  At that point  there was a loss of  33%  for the year.

Now it looks like it is going to the outside and making a run  for year end winningsIt is holding at  $5.59

BINGO GROUP HELPS COMMUNITY CERT TEAM

The bosses mentioned this to me before they left for their Christmas Trip to Disney: The Bingo Group has donated funds to help the CERT Team buy equipment.

Rakes were purchased to clear street drains in the event of clogging from a hurricane or other storm related incident. The Team Members were also issued nice compact LED Flashlights. They can be of  help in the event a search is needed in the evening hours or in dark areas.

My Boss was happy with his flashlight, and I am watching it for him while he is away. If I used it I would have had this picture at the top of this post. So much for temporary help.

I know that thanks should be extended to both the CERT Guys, and The Bingo Group. They make us: C- O- M-M-U-N-I-T-Y.

Thanks Guys.

ANOTHER FEW DAYS WITH THE BOSSES GONE

Good God This neighbor thinks He works at the famed keyboard more then they do.

They will be gone for roughly another week.  That is good as I won't hear him complaining about his back. Then again I am a "Good neighbor" and, I must admit I enjoy playing on their little community blog.

I'll do my best. I have been told to keep quiet about their destination. I am sure you have your suspicions. The picture is a clue.

THANKSGIVING

The Pilgrims should be Happy. It's their Day. We got The Florida Chapter of the Family together to celebrate the THANKSGIVING Holiday with all the trimmings.

Instead of a gang coming to our home we stepped out, and invaded our daughters home. She had a nice glass of wine and enjoyed "her day." We had a fine collection of grandchildren were enjoying time with us.  Of course attendance was mandatory or one of the kids would have been long gone. It was great to see them pitch in and help.

This "Old Guy" likes the idea of going out. IT is a nice change from the days when we were younger (and did all the work). Now at least one of us can:  Sit,  Remember our National Heritage, and Watch a Patriotic Football Game. GO DOLPHINS.

One thing that remains the same is the fine tuning.  "My Lady" gives it to that very edible bird. We are glad our daughter didn't let it escapeMaybe next year she will buy one that is frozen along with the wine.

WHERE ARE MY PAVERS

Hey.  I wanted to go to the Town Center Pool the other day and got delayed. My driveway was gone, and so was my lawn.

OK that is a little exaggeration on my part, but some "pavers" were removed because Century Link was repairing a phone line for my neighbor. This was good because they previously installed a temporary line in the rear of the property which actually ran from tree to tree.

They finished quickly and were very polite when asked : "How long?"  The response was "Ten minutes" and that is just about what it took.  Nice job Guys.

OLD GUY'S BIRTHDAY

It is no wonder that "his little girl" does all those crazy things. She learned from him.  OK, She cold teach him some things.

In the picture he is contemplating climbing the "Wall" behind him. We don't know how far "UP" he got, but today is his birthday, so we do know that he has climbed across many, many calendars.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

SHY WOLF

A group of us took a little ride up Collier Boulevard to the Shy Wolf Sanctuary.

We missed this trip, sponsored by our community, last year and wanted to make sure we got there this time around. We weren't disappointed. A friend also went with us, and enjoyed the visit.

The biggest problem was getting the "Old Guy" up so we could be there by 9:00 AM. He groaned a little but finally moved. If he didn't get up I would have told the Wolves to: "Bite him in the "___."
Once there we (that includes HIM) had a great time. He was glad to have his camera and take some neat pictures to share with everyone. The Wolves looked great, but that big cat  was something else. Just check his teeth !

LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS

At least one resident has reported that an intruder entered an automobile that was parked in a driveway in our community.

"Our Safety Guy" wants to remind everyone who parks outside to "lock your car doors", and consider bringing portable garage door remotes in the house at night.  If this device gets in the wrong hands it can serve as a "Key" to your home. You don't want that.

As always keep yours eyes open and report suspicious behavior to the Sheriff's Department.

TOWN CENTER HOSTS WOUNDED WARRIOR EVENT

There was a huge crowd at the Town Center  on Saturday,  November 12.  Residents attended a "Sold Out" dinner in support of the Wounded Warrior Project.

This was a very patriotic event. The tables decorated in Red, White, & and, Blue.  American Flags also were featured throughout the room.  A Color Guard brought everyone to attention marching  front and center to present our Flag.

One wall was designated the Wall Of Honor.  There was a section for a picture of a Verona Walk resident or relative that served in various wars  starting with World War I. This was a simple memorial, but one that had very deep meaning.

Also in the display was a four page account of  "Thirty-Four Days" in a life boat in the North Atlantic. The story was written some 50 years after the S/S Denver was torpedoed. My Lady's Father was one of the survivors. She grew up never hearing a word about it. Fortunately the story "surfaced" about ten years ago.

In their first appearance the VERONA WALK CHORUS  treated the group to their version of some great American Patriotic songs. Our residents also displayed their own voices while singing to historic tunes. In addition we were entertained by John Rinnel who is shown above with a mean guitar.

ALCOHOL AND DRIVING DO NOT MIX

Sometimes something true makes more of an impact when said as a joke. A neighbor, concerned with the up coming Season of Cheer,   sent this to us to share with our friends and neighbors. Even our Safety Guy liked this bit of humor.

ReadLaugh, and Learn as Holiday Season is near.

I would like to share an experience with you all, to do with drinking and driving. As you know some people have brushes with the authorities on their way home.

Well, I for one have done something about it.The other night I was out for a dinner and a few drinks, and having had far too much to drink, and, knowing full well I was over the limit, I did something I have never done before. I took a bus home.

I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise, as:  I had never driven a bus before.

HONOR ROLL FOR MAGNUS

This is easy to believe. Just because the kid plays football doesn't mean he can't do the academic "plays" too.

Our Grandson, Magnus, has achieved Honor Roll status this past semester. The family is quite proud of him. We just have to make sure he doesn't take too many hits to the head.

Good Job Magnus !!!

VETERANS DAY - WE REMEMBER

Veterans from various Wars are honored today. The Banks are closed, and Flags decorate the landscape in memory of those who have passed.

My "Queen" remembers her Dad, who served in  WW II.  He sailed on the above pictured ship, S/S Denver, as part of a Naval Security Team. When the ship got separated from its convoy it became an easy target for a German U-Boat. The Denver was one of many ships that went down in the North Atlantic.

The survivors of this attack spent thirty-four days at Sea. They lived through rough seas, hot sun, no food, rain, sand storms and even after being rescued were confronted with Apes. This final scene of their ordeal took place in the Canary Islands.

MY LITTLE GIRL

My "Little Girl" is finally home. It's funny how you say things in jest and they get taken seriously. But this is beyond belief.

I must have said at one time or another: "Go climb a tree." Well times have changed. She is all grown up and has literally  climbed too many trees, and jumped out of too many airplanes,  and hiked in too many jungles.

Even though she was gone for several weeks she remembered  the "Old Guy," and sent home this picture just for him.  It is the Worlds Largest Pewter Mug .  It looks like it is filled with some good jungle brew.

Her Dad thinks this is a great picture and demanded that we publish it. No Problem.

BEFORE & AFTER

What a difference a month makes.

These pictures were taken roughly a month apart. One in October and one in November. Notice how different the mulch is?  On top it is old, dark, and in need of some help. On the bottom the guys got it looking great again.

The best part of the change is all I had to do was click a picture or two, and say "Thanks."

BOWLERS ARE HOME, BUT STRUCK OUT AT COCO KEY

Members of the VeronaWalk Bowling Group took a four night cruise with their families on a Caribbean vacation.

The gang sailed on Royal Caribbean's  "Majesty of the Seas."  The ship was scheduled to make port calls in Nassua, Key West and the exotic Coco Key. We did enjoy the streets of both Nassau and Key West taking in many sites of interest. A tour of Atlantis was one of the highlights on the visit to Paradise Island.

Coco Cay is billed as a private Island with great beaches and water activities. Here the gang struck out, probably for the only time in their bowling life, as the ship found the waters too rough to allow passengers to go ashore. This did not keep the group from having a great time, and "Yes" we did eat a lot.

AN APPLICATION HAS BEEN SENT TO LOYOLA

Upon our return from our cruise we got a message from our Grand daughter.  Cassidy, the "Old Guy's Body Guard" when she visits VeronaWalk, has advised that she recently paid a visit to Loyola University located in Maryland (I think).  It is about 3 hours from home - Summit, NJ  (that I know).

Her grades are excellent, her conduct has been excellent, and she has been involved in helpful activities. It looks like she might draw a good card in this selection game for which she is well prepared.

She has applications for a couple of good schools, and Loyola has become number one on her short list.

The application has been mailed.  A couple others are ready to go, but Loyola is the current (things can change) favorite. We are praying for a good outcome.

From sunny Florida we hope she can here us yell:  Go Cassidy.  The "Old Guy: wants to see you wearing this tee shirt below. It looks like it will be a good fit !!!   And what a picture we can make with it.

THE SHIP HAS RETURNED

Royal Caribbean's ship, The Majesty Of the Seas, returned this morning to Miami. That means VeronaWalk's Bowlers have returned.

This neighbors' duties end at noon today. I will give back control of this little blog back to the resident owner and let them do there thing. I am sure there will be plenty of pictures and some tall tales from that "Old Guy."

I'll just hang out across the street and wait until they take off again. Catch "you all" soon.

BIG DATES FOR NOVEMBER

I better do this before they get back from that cruise. Lucky for me the Lady left me the notes. She said to get this done on the 1st so HE doesn't try to post the info when the cruise is over.  She said, "It's best to keep his fingers away from the keyboard."

I can  hear him now: "Are there any birthdays this month?"  We all  should tell him "No"  if he asks.  If he gets it wrong she'll  be making an appointment for him with the memory doctor.

Bottom line there is one major date to note this month. Look for it near Thanksgiving. That is a big enough hint.
