HAVE A LAUGH

A Lady in the community sent this to us. When it was read we thought it was true. Enjoy it.  ...   ...   ...  ...

A few days ago I was having some work done at my local garage.

A blond came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten.

We all looked at each other and another customer asked,

'What is a seven-hundred- ten?'

She replied, 'You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine,
I have lost it and need a new one..'

She replied that she did not know exactly what it was, but this piece had always been there.

The mechanic gave her a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like.

She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710.

He then took her over to a car just like hers which had its hood up and asked, 'Is there a 710 on this car?'.

She pointed and said, 'Of course, its right there.'

The mechanic fainted.
If you're not sure what a 710 is

PULTE STOCK

Thank God 2011 is done.

The quest for retirement riches continues as we will again watch our builder's Stock. We are almost out of red ink so that must mean the turn around is near.

The original purchase was in 2009, and the base price was  $6.47

At the end of this month it is:  $6.31

THE GIRL WITH THE HAT WASN"T ALONE GETTING CHRISTMAS PRESENTS

The KID up "North" was proud enough to send a picture of her brand new hat, but the gang in the South also was ready to get a picture or two with their Christmas presents. We took a ton of gifts over to their home in our Christmas Sleigh. Wow they were really glad to see us !

Above are a couple shots of the kids, and a rare picture of both their Mom and Aunt. They are difficult to get together for a picture, except this time of year. HallelujahAnother Merry Christmas.

GEE A HAT, JUST WHAT I WAS DREAMING ABOUT FOR CHRISTMAS

Wow !  I think I know how this kid feels. A hat for Christmas. Just what She wanted, and She has plenty of time to grow into it. Her parents really plan well.

Maybe if She keeps smiling her Mom and Dad might get her a REAL present !!!

CHRISTMAS - 2011

After Days of Work we are finally ready to celebrate Christmas.

We started before Thanksgiving!!!  My Queen started early with the usual: "I don't know what to get this one or that one;"  and  "When can we go buy a new tree?"

I was into it too. I wondered: "What kind of pie are you going to make;"  "Who is coming for Dinner;" and "Is there a football game on?"

All that preparation is now concluded.  Peace On Earth

Plus there are 500 lights on the new Christmas Tree.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS - BAH HUMBUG

A friend shared an opinion with us on the subject of "Political Correctness."  The timing of this thought is certainly appropriate as  two major religious holidays are coming up quick.

Below is the thought for your review:
.....................................

More and more each year people seem to shy away from saying those traditional greetings that reflect on the holidays. They do this because of the need to be "politically correct," and to not offend some third party.

Decent people respect each other and their religions.  That respect carried this Country forward for a couple hundred years without a problem.

Today there exists pressure to make sure all interaction between groups is proper, correct and not offensive. The fact is that this effort itself - is offensive.

Isn't it much easier to skip the politics and simply say:  Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukah.

This is the season for those greetings to be remembered and honored

MR. CAMERON - ANOTHER BIRTHDAY

Well the kid is my Buddy, so he will get a greeting here on this blog for his special day. His picture is from the day we played  "Cop's and Robbers."

He is now in double digits - 10 years old.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMERON

FORT JEFFERSON - DRY TORTUGAS

It took the "Old Guy" a long time to get there. It was always a dream of his to go visit this place where  Dr. Mudd of the  Lincoln Conspiracy was held prisoner. The only way there is by boat and more recently Sea Plane. As His Lady I was more than pleased to strap myself in,  and hope the pilot had a map.

After decades of waiting and hoping to someday see this place it happened.  We chartered a small plane and flew to Key West. There we made the 10:00AM connection to the Dry Tortugas. It took about 40 minutes. In comparison the "Ferry" takes 2.5 hours each way.

The flight was great. There was room for ten passengers on the small plane. Everyone had a window seat. What a view. The water was just beautiful.

As the plane neared its landing site the pilot pointed out a couple of wrecks laying on the ocean floor. This was the area where the famous Antocha discovered by Mel fisher the famed treasure hunter. We missed that wreck but saw a couple others as well as some sharks swimming in the water.

The pilot circled  The Dry Tortugas so everyone could see historic Fort Jefferson  before setting down on the calm water. There were several picture opportunities.

We had a good few hours swimming, snorkeling and exploring history. Maybe, just maybe, a repeat trip will occur next year. Or maybe we just might try that  Bi-Plane pictured above.

25TH BIRTHDAY FOR LAURA

Our "Baby" is enjoying her birthday today. Helping her is her crew of: Zachary, Cameron, and Caliana

Our policy is to report only that the kid is now "25" years of age. So Happy 25th Birthday Laura.

While we will guard her age we can say, as the picture proves, she is over 21 - old enough to have some Wine.   "It helps me drive" she claims. That is good so long as she remembers the man in blue with their little radar guns.

In any event  HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!

BUSY DAY: KEY WEST, CERT CHRISTMAS PARTY, AND RUMMY KUBE

This was a day that will live in memory for a long long time.

It started with the Sun Rise and a charter flight down to Key West. There we used transportation not one bit like that old trolley pictured here.

We took a Sea Plane and went to the most remote location in our National Park Service. The Day was filled with fun and exploring history. The waters also provided excellent snorkeling, but were a little on the cool side.

Look for some pictures in a day or so from the Dry Tortugas, and Ft. Jefferson.  The "Old Guy" clicked a ton of pictures and he will be editing them very quickly.

After our adventure ended we jumped on the plane back to Naples  and home. The "Old Guy" wanted to get to the Christmas Party up at Town Center for the local CERT Team. He has attended everyone of these events and juggled the days schedule to be with his comrades (and make sure he got a nice slice of  Pizza).  I made sure He didn't eat to much.

At the end of The CERT Party there was still one more thing to do -
Rummy Kube. At the very least we had to stop and say "Hi" to all. We were so tired that was all we could manage to do.

BOWLERS SPOTLIGHTED IN VIVA VERONA

These Guy's scored a Strike in the recent Viva Verona. The local community magazine posted the above picture with members of our VeronaWalk Bowling Team

The group went on a four night cruise on the Majesty of the Seas a few weeks ago. The gang had a great time, but (based on recent results) did not pick up any pointers to improve their scores.

ISLAND PUB HOSTS VERONAWALK RUMMYKUBERS

Eating is always fun. Eating out is even better.

Last Friday Night a small group of the Rummy Kube Gang went to The Island Pub just off US 41. The Tiki  Restaurant is actually located on an island in this nice condo property. It was a quaint experience to cross over the little bridge, check out the fish and ducks, and then look over a great menu.

We had a great meal; We also listened to island music; and We also used a very nice BOGO coupon.

LORETTA LYNN SHOW

This was a real treat. Loretta Lynn appeared at Naples Phil Dec 8th, and two of our V.W. Residents got tickets.

As the pictures reveal the were dead center and up close. Only regret was that show did not last longer. Ms. Lynn, who was born in 1932, still has a strong deep voice, and a quick wit that she exercised with the crowd and band.

The Country Star sang just about all her #1 hits, plus a couple other songs that were also greeted with enthusiasm from the audience. The "Conway" duet was particularly great to hear again.

FT LAUDERDALE CHRISTMAS SHOW

On Sunday a group from the Community took a trip across Alligator Alley to Ft. Lauderdale to turn on the Christmas Spirit.

Any trip on the "Alley" is always fun. The glades can put you at peace, and you just might spot a gator or two.  Someone thought it might be nice to hook up a few of those gators to a sleigh and really bring on the Christmas  mood in style.  The "Old Guy" was ready to get a picture of that for sure but had his camera in his pocket when he saw a BEAR on the North side of the Highway.

Once our bus arrived  at the Babtist Church we were directed to our seats. We had center left and were reasonably close.  The kids and adults did a fabulous job and we got some nice pictures to prove it.  Hope you like them.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS AT DISNEY WORLD

The "Good Neighbor" was right when he warned that everyone would have to see all those Christmas Pictures taken at Disney.

There were over 100 pictures snapped at three of Disney World's four major attractions. These are just a few of the shots that relate to the Christmas Holiday

Hope you like them. Now start putting up your own decorations. Of course check your home owners documents to make sure they go where allowed.

TOWN CENTER PALM TREE DECORATED WITH BEAUTIFUL LIGHTS

The Christmas Spirit is certainly here in the Community. The above Palm Tree is just one example of the beautiful decorations and lights that are up at Town Center, and the Gate House.

This picture was taken at night and really looks great - especially in person.

NEWS FROM NJ: CASSIDY OFFERED FULL SCHOLARSHIP

This is great news. The second granddaughter has been offered a full scholarship at one of the colleges where an early decision was requested.

Everyone is quite proud of her and one guy in particular is extremely pleased.  That would be the "Old Guy"  who she likes to visit here in VeronaWalk.  Now there really is a possibility that someday she will come and take him shopping.

Congratulations Cassidy !!!  What a wonderful early Christmas present.

We are hoping you got a couple more nice acceptance letters like this one. You have worked hard and deserve the best.

THE MOUSE SENT THEM HOME

Well it was quiet here in the "Walk" until yesterday. Oh how I enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Things do change. Now, I actually believe there really is a big Mouse that talks. Well that Mouse apparently kicked my neighbors out of Disney and sent them home. Once again I am out of a job.  I got my notice to leave "their keyboard" at once.

You would have thought they would have brought me a little something from the Mouse House, but times are tough. I will just go home and not mention that nice pie in my refrigerator. That will be my severance pay!

It should take a day or so but I am sure HE will make us look at those Christmas  Pictures from  Disney . That will be OK.

CHRISTMAS SEASON IS UPON US

A friend sent this to us. It might have a political focus, but putting that stuff aside it reminds us to keep December's Focus on CHRISTMAS, as well as all religious holidays this month

This is a great time of the year. Enjoy each other, and enjoy this bit of seasonal neighborly humor.  Let it make you smile. Let it lead you to celebrate, regardless of your particular beliefs, and forget politics for a couple of weeks.

The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be any Nativity Scenes in Government Buildings this Christmas season.
This isn't for any religious reason.
They simply have not been able to find Three Wise Men in the Nation's Capital, and ...
The search for a Virgin continues,  ...  BUT  ...
There was no problem,  however, finding enough asses to fill the stable.

DECEMBER DATES TO REMEMBER

There is one date "He" has to remember this month.

It is a birthday and I will do this post "Now" so "He" won't be yelling at me: "Any birthdays to note this month?"

I will give him a hint too - Your Star Banker.

HAVE A LAUGH

One of the neighbors has again made us smile with this joke. She sent it to us to share. Hope you like it.

THE AFTERLIFE

A Couple made a deal that whoever died first would come back and inform the other if there is sex after death.

Their biggest fear was that there was no after life at all.

After a long life together, the husband was the first to die.

True to his word, he made the first contact:
                           " Marion ... Marion "

                             "Is that you, Bob?"

"Yes, I've come back like we agreed."

                    "That's wonderful!   What's it like?"

"Well, I get up in the morning, I have sex. I have breakfast and then it's off to the golf course.

I have sex again, bathe in the warm sun and then have sex a couple of more times.

Then I have lunch. You'd be proud of me - Lots of Greens. Another romp around the golf course, then pretty much have sex the rest of the afternoon. After supper, it's back to golf course again.
Then it's more sex until late at night. I catch some much needed sleep and then the next day it starts all over again"

"Oh, Bob are you in Heaven?"

                    "No...I'm a rabbit in Texas .

PULTE STOCK

This "Stock" is like a horse race.

It quickly fell to the rear of the pack and, honestly, looked like it needed a bailout. The price was just above $4.00.  At that point  there was a loss of  33%  for the year.

Now it looks like it is going to the outside and making a run  for year end winningsIt is holding at  $5.59

BINGO GROUP HELPS COMMUNITY CERT TEAM

The bosses mentioned this to me before they left for their Christmas Trip to Disney: The Bingo Group has donated funds to help the CERT Team buy equipment.

Rakes were purchased to clear street drains in the event of clogging from a hurricane or other storm related incident. The Team Members were also issued nice compact LED Flashlights. They can be of  help in the event a search is needed in the evening hours or in dark areas.

My Boss was happy with his flashlight, and I am watching it for him while he is away. If I used it I would have had this picture at the top of this post. So much for temporary help.

I know that thanks should be extended to both the CERT Guys, and The Bingo Group. They make us: C- O- M-M-U-N-I-T-Y.

Thanks Guys.

ANOTHER FEW DAYS WITH THE BOSSES GONE

Good God This neighbor thinks He works at the famed keyboard more then they do.

They will be gone for roughly another week.  That is good as I won't hear him complaining about his back. Then again I am a "Good neighbor" and, I must admit I enjoy playing on their little community blog.

I'll do my best. I have been told to keep quiet about their destination. I am sure you have your suspicions. The picture is a clue.

THANKSGIVING

The Pilgrims should be Happy. It's their Day. We got The Florida Chapter of the Family together to celebrate the THANKSGIVING Holiday with all the trimmings.

Instead of a gang coming to our home we stepped out, and invaded our daughters home. She had a nice glass of wine and enjoyed "her day." We had a fine collection of grandchildren were enjoying time with us.  Of course attendance was mandatory or one of the kids would have been long gone. It was great to see them pitch in and help.

This "Old Guy" likes the idea of going out. IT is a nice change from the days when we were younger (and did all the work). Now at least one of us can:  Sit,  Remember our National Heritage, and Watch a Patriotic Football Game. GO DOLPHINS.

One thing that remains the same is the fine tuning.  "My Lady" gives it to that very edible bird. We are glad our daughter didn't let it escapeMaybe next year she will buy one that is frozen along with the wine.
