HAVE A LAUGH

Another joke sent in by a neighbor. Here it is. Enjoy!

A man and his wife walked into the dentists office. "Doc, I'm in one heck of a hurry," he said. "I have two buddies sitting out in the car waiting for us to go play golf, so forget about the anesthetic.

He further said, "I don't have time for the gums to get numb. We have a 10 am tee time at the best golf course in town, and it's already 9:30am." He pleaded "I just want you to pull the tooth and be done with it."

The dentist thought to himself, "Wow, this guy is brave, asking to have a tooth pulled without anything for pain." He asked the man, "Which tooth is it?" The man turned to his wife and said: "Open your mouth honey and show him".

GARDEN PARTY

I took my Queen to a "Garden Party" last night expecting to see Ricky Nelson.

Town Center was not Madison Square Garden on Saturday Night. Mr. Nelson only appeared as a memory. "Mary Lou" didn't get to say "Hello", but a lot of her friends did.

The guy filling in for Mr Nelson looked like an exiled French Diplomat. He certainly can't be described as a Teen Angel checking Can You Hear Me.

Known to residents as "Jersey Joe," the diplomat reached into his song list to dig out some great golden oldies. He did a fabulous job bringing back memories. Dick Clark would be proud.

At one point the memories took me back to 1956. With the help of some Jagermiester I thought I saw Jim Lowe, dressed in green, ready to sing that great old song "The Green Door."

Sad to say there were no guest artists on the stage, but the neighbors that performed made the tickets to the show a bargain. I saw the seeds for new groups to appear on American Idol. There they were: The Novaro Sisters, Bruno and Garfunkel, and Jerry and the Real Pace Makers.

As the evening reached a conclusion The Big Bopper took he microphone, but didn't need it as he belted out his favorite classic. It could have been the best performance of the night, but we need to sleep on it before buying him a gold record.

As always a great night.

NEIGHBOR'S GET CPR TRAINING

The "Old Guy" just came in the house from his daily peek at the outside world. His legs aren't working like they should so he limits his activity. Anyway he was excited by some news from a neighbor.

It seems this neighbor said our community CERT TEAM provided training to members last Thursday (23rd) so they would know how to provide CPR if necessary.

In addition to the CPR training the member received instruction on using an AED. This equipment can provide an electric shock to jump start a victims heart and save a life. Our community is fortunate to have two AED's located in Town Center.

The neighbor sent us a picture of the AED Equipment. It is quite impressive. It is also nice to know that their are volunteers ready to help when the golf cart overturns again, or some other accident or health issue arises.

BATTER UP

Play Ball! That is the sound we know at the end of the Summer when baseball heads into the final games of the year. It could also be one of us calling on the contractors to hurry up and bring back our bank and travel agency.

One can tell how much they appreciate something when it is taken away. In this case it is going on five months since the flooded businesses floated off our campus.

Hopefully time is moving in the right direction and our friends will soon be back in business.

GREAT BEACH DAY

I took the "Old Guy" to the beach on Wednesday. It was great to get him to venture away from the sofa and TV.

We did about two hours up at Naples. It was great reading, getting some sun, and then a taste of a flat clear Gulf of Mexico.

While in the water ( I swear) we had a Dolphin swim within five feet of us, then saw a Manatee, only to have a school of Sting Rays Swim between us.

On the way home the "Old Guy" remembered it was I who said leave your camera at home. Thank God we didn't see the brother of that Striped Bass he has be talking about for a week or so. That fish got cooked by brusky and it was great.

SUNSHINE CRUISE

Florida is the "Sunshine State" and has great sunsets. The State also has rain. We have been trying for several weeks to get out and see a great sunset, but as luck would have it we got rained out.

This past Saturday was different. We got to sail, and the sky over the gulf was great. The end result was a great sunset.

On the way out we saw several Dolphin. Everyone ran from one side of the boat to the other trying to catch a peek at these huge creatures. Just when the camera came up to "click" they would dive. With a little luck we got a decent shot of one.

Luck also gave us a couple great shots of Mr. Sun, as well as the guy that follows him - Mr Moon.

TIME TO REFLECT

It is time to take a minute and recall that horrible event nine years ago. What can one say if they lived through that day. It's more than sad, but everyone in their own way needs to just take a minute and reflect.

WINNER

Wow the week has gone by so fast. The "Boss" is home and will soon grab the keyboard (Sorry Dino).

Well let me tell you that his head is in the clouds. I also detect that "She" too is floating. In her case it might be because she got three nights in Disney.

"He" went for a different purpose. His mission was the Orlando "Vacation World Police Badge Show." He packed over 100 New Jersey treasures and carted them all the way to the Rosen Plaza Hotel for last Saturday's Show.

From what I hear it took him forty years to get all these metal things that he treasures. That is why he took two deputies to help guard the exhibition. In the end it was worth it as he won a trophy for having the "Best Badge Display."

Way to go. Good job.

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ANIMALS

The trees are going not only in our community, but across the street as well. The loss of trees will move animals out of there natural homes into whatever areas they find inviting.

Encounters with these native animals is rare during daylight as they most likely to come out at night.

Whether it is day or night one should keep an eye open. You may see a rare native animal which would be a treat. On the other hand by being careful, as our safety team advises, you can avoid personal injury and also keep one of these animal safe too.

GET ON THE SLOW TRAIN

This is always a great job.

When the bosses are away I get to watch the blog line and report only if it is appropriate.

Well I am retired so there is never anything to report other than my good wishes to the guys to enjoy Disney. Make sure you get on the "slow train" or you will be in for a wild ride. Be careful !

UNCLE WALT CALL'S

It's time again for the publishers and staff to head North to the Magic Kingdom. Uncle Walt has offered some nice specials that absolutely must be utilized. The Blog is being left in the hands of a good neighbor who has demonstrated he will do a great job in our absence.

BIG FISH

The "Queen" went to the Indian Casino for a haircut and left the keyboard unattended. The "Old Guy" will give it some use now. The big item worth noting was this writers day out. It seems the "Old Guy" ventured out on a fishing expedition off Marco with a neighbor.

The neighbor supplied everything and five miles out we put the lines in the water. I hoped that any fish with half a brain would stay away from me. My experience with fish is the seafood section of Publix.

After thirty minutes, and no bites, my neighbor checked my line. He knows all about fishing, bait and hooks. He proceeded to ruin my day. He insisted that I use bait and a hook.

Forty minutes went by, and then I nearly got pulled into the gulf. I got something. Maybe something got me. I reeled the "whale" in real slow and careful. It took at least a day (5 minutes) to land this killer fish. My neighbor got it the boat and we measured it. The thing was 31 inches long. It had nice color and markings on. It was a Striped Bass according to the book we used to look it up.

Well that made for a nice few hours on the sea and I didn't even have to walk home. I did have to buy the beer as I caught the only fish. I just hope the "Queen" doesn't find out I went out while she was out losing money.

SEPTEMBER: DATES TO NOTE

My Queen, with help of one of the Princesses, tells me there is one birthday this month, and it is only a couple of days away. Hope I don't forget it.
