HAVE A LAUGH

Our friends continue to have a sense of humor. Below is the joke we think is best of the latest contributions. Enjoy it.

 *******

A young New York woman was so depressed that she decided to end her life by throwing herself into the ocean; but just before she could throw herself from the docks, a handsome young man stopped her.

"You have so much to live for," said the man. "I'm a sailor, and we are off to Italy tomorrow. I can stow you away on my ship. I'll take care of you, bring you food every day, and keep you happy."

With nothing to lose, combined with the fact that she had always wanted to go to Italy , the woman accepted.

That night the sailor brought her aboard and hid her in a small but comfortable compartment in the ship’s hold.

From then on, every night he would bring her three sandwiches, a bottle of red wine, and make love to her until dawn.

Three weeks later she was discovered by the captain during a routine inspection.

"What are you doing here?" asked the captain.

"I have an arrangement with one of the sailors," she replied. "He brings me food and I get a free trip to Italy ."

"I see," the captain says.

Her conscience got the best of her, and she added, "Plus, he's screwing me."

"He certainly is," replied the captain. "This is the Staten Island Ferry."

FASHION SHOW

Not one, but Two Fashion Shows were performed in our Community' Town Center. They were on Feb. 21 and 22. Both started at Noon with lunch followed by the "Big Show."

My Lady got to see it with friends while I got to take pictures of both shows and the rehearsals. It was fun, but it was a lot of work.

The men and women who performed put in hours each week over several months before putting on their final production. It was impressive to see the talent our residents have retained over the years and their performances in this show.

In the end the show was fabulous!  Our Activities Office was  the beneficiary of the proceeds from ticket sales. That will help keep us active during the year.

Above  are a sampling of pictures from the show. Glad the guys did not drop that lovely Lady. In a few days we will show you some more pictures. Enjoy these for now.

HEY BUS DRIVER: "HOLD THE BUS !"

We wanted to go to Ringling Museum for a couple of years. We signed up last year and it was canceled.

This year was a different story. The trip got off as scheduled on Tuesday Feb. 12. My Queen got me up and out of bed at some ridiculous hour. I did it though, with the help of some strong coffee. It was worth the effort.

We pulled into the Sarasota Museum around 10:30. From there we got the instructions to meet at building  "1" by 3:15. So far so good.

The first order of business was to allow a very nice young Lady give us a tour of the Ringling Hacienda. It was sort of like our homes in "The walk" with those high ceilings. Of course the art work was nicer than what is planted on our walls.

After the house tour we had free time to enjoy food and other exhibits. The pictures say it all. This was an impressive place, but time wound down and off to building one we went (Not wanting to be late.)  Well the Tram Driver didn't understand building one and took us to the # 1 attraction in his mind - The Mansion. It took us a while before we realized we were now not early, but late, and a long way from building "1".  Oh I have a headache,

We did get to Building "1", but the bus was heading down the road. Thank God I could run and caught it at the light begging the driver to let us on. Thank God I am fabricating just a little. They waited, and we had a minute to spare

What a good day. Hope you liked the pictures above.

EURASIA

Our VW Gentlemen friends have a lunch "Always on the First Wednesday of the Month."   The guys did not have to travel too far last week (Feb. 6) as their luncheon at  Eurasia was just a couple of miles away.

This establishment offers Italian and Vietnamese Menu Selections. Both sides of the menu were excellent, as was the service.

Over fifty Gentlemen enjoyed good food and great conversation during the afternoon. Our reporter raved about his Veal in Lemon Sauce. It is definitely worth a try.

Later on this month The Men will  take their significant others' out   to a Valentines Lunch on February 28, 2013. It will also be at a nearby restaurant, and the guys are hoping for a good response.

DOGGIE LOVE DAY

Would you believe it. Friday was some kind of Dog/Pet Love Day here in the "Walk."

I rushed my lunch and got my  Kodak Brownie 127 to get a mess of pictures. Guess what?  I didn't see any dog's. There were no cats either. That is enough to make one howl.

Having been a relentless investigator in my day I proceeded to check this out. I learned all the facts that need to be learned. The event was canceled. People did not sign up ! Well that means no pictures for you guys. Maybe next year.  I'll keep the camera ready.

JERSEY JOE HITS SIXTY

Our friend above, the Talented "Jersey Joe", hit a milestone in his life career. That event was his sixtieth birthday.

This was as good an  excuse as was needed for a P-A-R-T-Y.  Of course it was held in a secret location. Friends and neighbors all pitched in to bring food, tables, drink and so on.

After getting warmed up "JJ" treat everyone to songs of the days of old doing an excellent job as the groups lead singer.

The smiles below tell the rest of the story. Lets do it again next year.
