VALENTINA COURT STREET PARTY

While most people in the community were bored this Sunday afternoon especially with no more football, we gathered with a few neighbors to have a
wild Street Party.

Our gang gathered in the driveway at 8007. The owner of the property responded to our request to use his location. We also got him to give us water and electric to meet our needs. Maybe he was afraid to say "No", but then again Who cares. The goal was to have a fun time and that we did.

While our party started at 1:00 PM, it was assumed to be 5:00PM somewhere so we let the liquid spirits prime us for good food and conversations. A couple of neighbors held hands and tried to sang "Kumbaya." to the delight of the our socially well adjusted fun seekers. This is a fun group and we had a good time. That is all that counts.

PULTE STOCK

Already we are into the end of the second month of 2011. Where is our investment money going this year.

Well our (2/22) end point Pulte Stock closed at: $6.99

On our investment was $7.46 to start the year, or $746 on 100 shares.

In short we LOST - $.47 per share on our 100 shares so far. Maybe it's time to buy?

HAVE A LAUGH

There may be a correlation between high gasoline prices, and people sending over more jokes for the gang. I guess we are doing more time on the PC then in our cars. Anyway here is the best from a good neighbor. ................................

A 54 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital.

While on the operating table she had a near death experience.. Seeing God she asked "Is my time up?"

God said, "No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a face-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck.

She even had someone come in and change her hair color and brighten her teeth! Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as
well make the most of it.

After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.

Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had another 43 years? Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the
ambulance?"

(You'll love this)

God replied: "I APOLOGIZE! I didn't recognize you."

CORRECTION

Several days ago we posted a great quote from Abraham Lincoln. Unfortunately Lincoln never said these words. The recognized author is Rev. William John Henry Boetcker who penned them in the early 1900's. For the full story check out the Snopes Link:

http://www.snopes.com/quotes/lincoln/prosperity.asp

The words are still good, and the evidence shows that they were used, in part, by President Ronald Reagan. Now thats a fact. Below are the words again for your review. Special thanks to our VW Neighbor for sending us the truth. Good job. We appreciate it !

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

BEAUTIFUL

SUNSET ??? No !!!

This picture was submitted by a neighbor. It is "Sunrise" in "The Walk." It certainly was not taken today (2/22) with all that fog we had, but it is great to look at anytime. Don Shafer was the photographer who caught this great shot.

Hope you enjoy looking at it.

TOWN HALL MEETING TONIGHT

Check at Town Center for more information, but a discussion will be held tonight regarding the proposed $10.00 monthly assessment to benefit our local restaurant. The business is in need of help as it is not earning a sufficient gross income.

If a majority of owners give, through the survey, approval for this assessment then a formal vote will be scheduled.

At this time members should read, listen and discuss the issue to become informed.

OLDIES MUSIC AT RICKS PLACE

We were just informed that Rick's Place will be having entertainment on Feb. 26. The singer, Jeanne, sent us the following message:

"I'll be singing at Rick's Place Feb 26, from 6-9. Would love to see you there. I also do private parties as well; 50's and 60's music. Hope to see you soon! "

This sounds like it could be a fun night. Mark your calenders.

HOA MEETING IS SET

All homeowners should have received a letter from Southwest Management. It is the notification for our annual Home Owners Association meeting.

The letter advises that the meeting will be on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 6:00 PM

An agenda was also enclosed and included a survey form to get an idea as to whether owners would agree to assess themselves a monthly fee, $10.00, for the purpose of supporting the local restaurant.

This is the time to read the materials and discuss it neighbors so an informed opinion can be cast.

SWEETHEART DEAL

First you have to be well rested to catch the great deals that often take place in the beginning of the week. But even if you are a little slow you should have caught the Sweet Heart Deal at Ricks Place.

The local restaurant offered a dinner for two at an attractive price of $25. We understand that included dessert. Happy hour drinks were also available.

Based on the reports the place was crowded and LOVE was in the air. That is how it should be.

VALENTINES DAY DANCE AT TOWN CENTER

Not quite on the 14TH, but that big "Love Day" was celebrated with a dance at Town Center on Feb 12.

Just a few (180) residents got together on a cool Saturday to enjoy the special day. They brought a little bit of alcohol to warm their bones and otherwise take the chill off.

Food was served by Southern Accents. They provided a good meal, featuring Shrimp and Beef Loin, as well as a great idea - four lines to move the gang quickly around the food table.

There was excellent music too. From where this young Lady sat it looked like the dance floor was always packed. This was certainly a good night.

LOCAL SHOW: JERRY LEE LEWIS

The Bosses, after their Disney trip, went on the 10Th to the Naples Philharmonic to see an old time Rock N Roll Show. They got there early only to find No Parking. This was a sellout performance. That was a surprise.

Frankie Ford and Jerry Lee Lewis are both in their seventies. Both Guys were able to walk out to the stage without any help and sing their songs. Mr. Ford even impressed the audience by showing everyone that He did not need a microphone. He concluded by doing "Sea Cruise" to everyone's delight. Click below to listen.

Jerry Lee walked out, straight to his piano, and sang several songs. He didn't have much to say, but did a good job singing and playing the piano. He concluded slamming the keyboard cover a few times and finally appeared to be looking for matches to set it on fire. Well in memory the piano still burns. Listen by clicking below

POLICE SHOW EXHIBITS

Of course the "side trip" to Disney gets priority when you travel with two ladies who really are not into badge and Patch shows. In fact they really are not deputies, but they did a great job at the show with our New Jersey Exhibit.

Despite the ladies focus on Disney World, the true Badge Collector had his day. He not only got the opportunity to speak with other collectors and share "war stories" about the job, but observed some fine displays.

In addition to the patches there were hats, uniforms, guns, patches and more. We share a couple of pictures in this posing. Note the fine uniform from the Canadian Mounties, and the deputies holding this fine old gun and badge. They can't wait until next year.

GOOD ADVICE FOR US AND WASHINGTON

ABE LINCOLN, who gets mentioned quite often in the news today, made a great comment years ago. We like it. Hope you do too. Here it is:

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

BOSSES BACK FROM DISNEY

It seems like "Disney" is the only place they go. Well the Bosses spent three days in Disney and now are back.

This good neighbor is glad to hand the keyboard over to his neighbors and welcome them back. I learned that the "Old Guy" had a great time in Orlando and even drove one of the cars. Too bad he wasn't paying attention. He drove the car thru someones window.

The Lady had a great time too, as did their VeronaWalk friend. They stayed well away from cars and trucks. Check out those smiles. Guess Disney is a bundle of fun at all ages.

GUY'S LUNCH AT LELY

The "Guy's" from the neighborhood met on Wednesday at the Flamingo Club and had another great lunch. There were 35-40 "Guy's" present. The Club did a great job getting the food out and just making sure everyone was happy.

FITNESS CENTER GROUP DOING A BENEFIT

Neighbors in our community are doing a fund raiser to purchase new equipment at the workout area in Town Center. They hope to keep our Fitness Center (Gym) in a State of the Art condition. The above is their poster. Sorry we can not make it bigger.
