THEY ARE AT SEA

My bosses worry about me. They sent an email saying they are no longer in London. The ship sailed a few days ago. At this point they are sailing, and of course eating.

The lady reports she is keeping the "Old Guy" on his toes and out of the brig.  Even the Mayor is smiling.  Wow!  That is good.

HAVE A LAUGH

Those neighbors. The keep sending their jokes because they can't find the "spam button."  Read it and see if you can identify the source.

"Jacob, age 92, and Mary, age 89, living in Naples, are all excited
about their decision to get married. They go for a stroll to discuss the

wedding, and on the way they pass a drugstore. Jacob suggests they
go in.

Jacob addresses the man behind the counter:

"Are you the owner?" The pharmacist answers, "Yes."

Jacob: "We're about to get married. Do you sell heart medication?"

Pharmacist: "Of course we do."

Jacob: "How about medicine for circulation?"

Pharmacist: "All kinds."

Jacob: "Medicine for rheumatism?"

Pharmacist: "Definitely."

Jacob: "How about suppositories and medicine for impotence?"

Pharmacist: "You bet!"

Jacob: "Medicine for memory problems, arthritis and Alzheimer's?"

Pharmacist: "Yes, a large variety. The works."

Jacob: "What about vitamins, sleeping pills, Geritol, antidotes for
Parkinson's disease?"

Pharmacist: "Absolutely."

Jacob: "Everything for heartburn and indigestion?"

Pharmacist: "We sure do."

Jacob: "You sell wheelchairs and walkers and canes?"

Pharmacist: "All speeds and sizes."

Jacob: "Adult diapers?"

Pharmacist: "Sure."

Jacob: "We'd like to use this store as our Bridal Registry."

MEMORIAL DAY

 
When you stop and think about it this really is a Big Holiday. Memorial Day!. It is not the first day of Summer !!!

We did our preaching over and over regarding the meaning of this day in prior posts. It is for those who have brought us freedom and the right to make choices within our lives. Focus on that for a while today. A little thought will make the burger taste better.

Last year we remembered the wife's father and do so again. His picture taken in 1943 is above. A picture of, his ship,  the SS Denver is on our wall at home. It gives cause for daily recognition We also add to the list of family members a Great Great Uncle who served in the Civil War.  A medal that he was awarded has found its way to us. It  is also on display. It reads: "Ready to die for the honor of our Country."

These items give true meaning to today's' holiday.

KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR FIRES

Hurricane Season starts in a day or so, but that does not mean we should let our guard down with regards to fires. They can happen anywhere, anytime.

Our Safety Officer jumped from his trusty Wrangler to reminds us: "Only you can prevent Forest Fires."  OK that was Smokey the Bear. Do you remember him?  How about Indiana Jones? Thats they guy with the torch.

Follow his lead and  "Keep your eyes open."  Remove debris from around your home and, check your fire extinguishers. Give these items proper attention.

CONSTABLE SENDS EMAIL

Hey I am just the neighbor. I got a little nervous when this email came in from the London Police.

The email advises that our good neighbor is in their custody. He is at the London City Police Museum. That figures. No crime has been committed. It is just a place with old police antiques that He finds interesting.

No picture of him in the jail cell. Shucks !!! 

I am sure HE will bring  back many pictures.

WHERE IS MY CANE

A report came in a while ago from LONDON. It read the "Old Guy" misplaced his cane. He knew what to do - Lean on Her !  He will be OK and promises to get plenty of pictures.
  

GONE AGAIN

 
News Flash !  This is the trusty neighbor advising that they are "Gone Again."

They advise it is not Disney or Jersey. It is just a little trip across the Pond. The "Old Guy" wants to stay out of trouble so, get this, he is traveling with the Mayor ! I am sure that will keep him out of trouble and very well informed. 

The Lady told me He will be in contact with the local Constabulary, and the police museum.  She will pack extra pain meds for the Chief just in case he has some flare ups..

I trust this will be an exciting vacation and wish all well !

BIRTHDAY FOR THE OLD GUY'S DRINKING BUDDY

Headlines are indeed misleading.

The "Old Guy" doesn't drink anymore, and certainly the "Kid" is still too young to indulge. He did add another year under his belt and is now fourteen, and a member of the terrible teens. OK, He is a good kid and has our best wishes on his birthday.

These are from the "Action Show" in the Hollywood Studios."  We had great seats - front and center.  Maybe a tad to the right.


He saw this show before so the camera was ready for flames, action, jumps and falls.


Obviously this is a dangerous show. We saw first hand what can go wrong when a car lost control and slammed into a jump ramp pictured above. The driver was OK, but the show was stopped at that point.

Careful Guys . We do want to do a return visit.

TIME TO PREPARE FOR HURRICANE SEASON

It is time to start thinking about Hurricane season.  It will be on us soon and one should be prepared.

POOCH OF THE MONTH

"Who me?"  "Yeah You!"  Bow Wow.

This is the "Pooch of the Month" for May. This nice little guy was quite content to sit and have this picture captured a few weeks ago at Town Center. We are featuring a different doggie each month.

RUMMY KUBE & FOOD

Those "guys" at Rummy Kube are at it again. The number playing has seen a big decrease in players so far, and that means the numbers that go out to eat remains strong too.

Last week week it was Tropical Palm Restaurant. That was great. We had ten people attend.

Tropical Palm proved to be a great target to go to, and it produced not only a good meal, but a lots of smiles.

GO SPARKY !!!!

Sparky.  That is the name of the little rabbit that runs around the Bonita Springs Dog Track.

We went there on Friday (5/12), with a nice group of people from our community. The day started with a big fish sandwich for lunch in the Club House. It was air conditioned. I liked that.

To the rear of our seats was a stretch of windows that looked like a bank. Great I could check my balances in person. NO !  It was for betting.

I am not good a placing bets, or picking winners. I did get a couple of bucks down on some poor dog that needed oxygen more then me. He lost. So did I. I did not like that.

We had a nice ride home and could say we had a good day. It is a different story for the dogs, and we salute our friends and neighbors who have personally help these animals.

MOM'S DAY

Happy Mother's Day

I believe this is the most popular holiday of the year. Try to get a restaurant reservation, and you too will believe it.

We intend to just lay back and wait for all those calls from the kids and their kids. Glad there is no charge for these long distance phone calls like in the old days.

CONSERVANCY CRUISE

Thursday (10th) was a good break from routine activities.

We joined a small group from The "Walk" and toured by water the mangroves. There was a nice breeze and the canopy on the boat kept the sun off us.

People seemed happy all day and often waved to us. This just made for a better day, and better pictures.  Lunch on Keewayden Island was also great.

WHERE IS THE BEEF

 

This is Conner. He is supposed to be smart but what is he eating?  His mother said "It's greens."  It sure is.

Give the kid a couple of more years and he will then be saying: "Where is the Beef."

GIVE ME A BREAK

I don't know a thing about horses, but the "Old Guy" said he can pick them. I think he said "Give Me a Break."

Isn't He supposed to make this prognostication before they start running their tails off on that circle? Well like I said, "I don't know."  

The wine smells  good so "I'll have another" and be quiet.

GREAT EXPERIENCE AT ST. GEORGE AND THE DRAGON

The First Wednesday came and went real quick this month. Our Community's first men's group, the "VeronaWalk Gentlemen," went to down town Naples on May 2nd for their monthly lunch. 

This time the Gentlemen visited St. George and the Dragon. This is a landmark restaurant in Naples.  It lived up to its' reputation by providing an excellent lunch to our fine group of Gentlemen. 

There was a malfunction with our community TV so our communications team relied on email and the "Old Fashion Telephone", to alert the community about their monthly lunch.  They responded nicely to the calls made by our volunteers.  

We had a record in attendance for May,  and all seemed to enjoy this experience with St George and the Dragon. Many times Our Gentlemen have passed this restaurant and said:  "Someday I'd like to try that place." Well now we have, and certainly it was a nice experience. 

MAY - DATES TO REMEMBER

"He" is asleep and actually I am having trouble thinking of anyone with a date to remember this month. I'll just leave this as a reminder.  Maybe the Governor knows. We shall see.

THE BIRD SPEAKS: "LUNCH TIME"

The "Bird" is screeching again for the VeronaWalk Gentlemen: "Your Community TV  channel is not working at this time so This is your Last  and only call for lunch !!!"  

That First Wednesday of the Month is coming upon us quickly, like tomorrow !!!

This month (May 2) VeronaWalk's original men's group will eat at St George and the Dragon. They are located next to Tin City on Tamiami Trail.
