HOME OWNERS INSURANCE

In May most of our neighbors will be signing up for another year with "their" insurance carrier. One neighbor started checking premiums early and shared some information that our friends, around the horn, might find useful.

Some companies, covering homes in our community, are, or will be asking for an increase of 8%-10%. In dollars that could be around $150. per year.

The research revealed that there are two companies (maybe more) offering home owners coverage at a rate lower than last year. They are Allstate and Tower Hill Insurance. It is worth a call to either of these companies (or some others) to obtain your own "apples to apples" costs to help make insurance decisions.

Allstate provided this number for info - 642 9797

Allstate has a poor record in Florida, they have dropped many customers, and declared vacancy in the state within 10 years. Did they offer you a guarantee renewal for a certain number of years? Did anyone look into a large number of owners joining for a discount?

You can get a quick quote on Tower Hill's website at www.thig.com.

That doesn't address my question. Allstate has announced it was leaving Florida within 10 years, and they have stated they were dropping 10% of their customers per year until that time. Just how secure is it to do business with them in view of this.
