MICKEY IS STILL PREACHING - CITY HALL POLITICS

It seems applications have been requested from proposed lessees to be given to the BOD. The Board will then make a decision, probably in mid February, as to who gets the new lease.

One proposal was made recently by a resident in the Real Estate business. That person offered big bucks to take over the Hair Salon. That business could/would be forced out of the Community.

On the surface our HOA would get, maybe $15,000 (plus/minus) in the bank to help pay our bills. Sounds good, but be careful not to jump at the cry: "Look at that money, grab it!"

The sum of $15,000 is of minimal significance in a budget of just under ten million dollars. It represents roughly.0015 of our total budget. So if we don't jump for "money, money, money," what should the Board of Directors be looking at ?

We think proposed lessees should have a business that will have a "benefit" to the Community. We don't need someone selling airplane parts for sure, but we can benefit from an on site Hair Salon, Travel Agency etc. This type of "service" should be our number one goal.

Next we do not want businesses in competition with each other or other residents. We have several (tens) residents who work in the Real Estate field. Certainly the Board of Directors should not give an advantage to one resident over another resident.

Even without the competition we do not need to make one person or group the presumed agent(s) of preference.

Last, whoever wishes to be a lessee in VeronaWalk should be told that they will be subjected to a "full background check" including criminal and financial records. This should be done so we can be sure we are getting only a person of good moral character. If you agree let the Board know.
