BIG OIL FIND IN USA

A friend gave me some official looking links that lead to the story below. It looks real, but in today's age who really knows? This is said because of the highlighted dates: 2008, 2007, and 1995. 1995. It is said because the amount of oil in this known area is now estimated as huge. It covers an area larger than many states, and my backyard. So why isn't this oil getting to our gas tanks? V.W.Resident doesn't have a clue on this one, but is curious as to why this "find" has not been publicized. Below is the story from the web.

Reston, VA. (APRIL 8, 2008) - North Dakota and Montana have an estimated 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil in an area known as the Bakken Formation.

A U.S. Geological Survey report, released April 10, 2008, shows a 25-fold increase in the amount of oil that can be recovered compared to the agency's 1995 estimate of 151 million barrels of oil. A

About 105 million barrels of oil were produced from the Bakken Formation by the end of 2007.

The Bakken Formation estimate is larger than all other current USGS oil assessments of the lower 48 states and is the largest "continuous" oil accumulation ever assessed by the USGS.

"It is clear that the Bakken formation contains a significant amount of oil - the question is how much of that oil is recoverable using today's technology?" said Senator Byron Dorgan, of North Dakota.

I guess "how much" is the question, but I'd sure like to know the answer and cost. Maybe the answer is in the "pork barrel" in Washington DC

This is old news that was published many years ago. The environmentalists have always stopped oil drilling in America as they claim it will be harmful tot he environment. Anwar in Alaska could place us in a position to cut purchase of imported oil by over 50%.
Its easy to tell Dennis has turned the blog over to a neighbor, the English is much better. Good job neighbor.
