The Day The Woods Burned

It has been almost a year since the "woods" burned. V W Resident was there along with quite a few concerned neighbors.

We remember looking to the South as the preserve burned quietly. All of a sudden there was a muffled explosion in the air. The flames jumped some 100 feet into the air, and the fire extended itself from Valentina Ct. to Umberto Ct. The sky was dark and hot ashes fell to the ground igniting mulch around a neighbors house.

This was an experience to say the least. An old friend was down and ironically was wearing a shirt that read "Newark Fire Dept". He seemed to enjoy the flames. I didn't. The fire tells us that "our woods" are fragile. With the anniversary coming up this June lets be aware of our environment. Keep your eyes open and have a plan in the event of a repeat performance.

I like the picture of the "Smoke & cloudy Sun" the best, but I'd rather not be clicking pictures of this ever again.
