HAVE A LAUGH
The Four Cats
Four men were bragging about how smart their cats were.
The first man was an Engineer,
The second man was an Accountant,
The third man was a Chemist, and
The fourth man was a Government Employee.
To show off, the Engineer called his cat, "T-square", do your stuff.
"T-square" pranced over to the desk, took out some paper and pen and
promptly drew a circle, a square, and a triangle.
Everyone agreed that was pretty smart.
But the Accountant said his cat could do better. He called his cat and
said, "Spreadsheet", do your stuff.
"Spreadsheet" went out to the kitchen and returned with a dozen cookies
He divided them into 4 equal piles of 3 cookies.
Everyone agreed that was good.
But the Chemist said his cat could do better He called his cat and said,
"Measure", do your stuff.
"Measure" got up, walked to the fridge, took out a quart of milk, got a
10 ounce glass from the cupboard and poured exactly 8 ounces without
spilling a drop into the glass.
Everyone agreed that was pretty good.
Then the three men turned to the Government Employee and said, "What can
your cat do?"
The Government Employee called his cat and said, "Coffee Break", do your
stuff.
"Coffee Break" jumped to his feet.......and ate the cookies........drank the milk......did his "business" on the paper......made love to the other three cats.......claimed he injured his back while doing so.......filed a grievance report for unsafe working conditions.......put in for Workers Compensation...............and then
went home for the rest of the day on sick leave...........
AND THAT, MY FRIEND DINO, IS WHY EVERYONE WANTS TO WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT!

There are many fond memories being shared with you on this your special day. Enjoy it.
Remember you are free to drop in anytime for a visit. Just take the usual form of transportation.

NAPLES PIER
They weren't enough days this year worth going to the beach. Saturday we got lucky. It was reasonably warm and the sky was blue. That was enough to get me to kick the guy with his camera out of his easy chair to go for a ride.
We landed at the Naples Pier. When we got there it looked like everyone in the world showed up. Parking was impossible, but we eventually made it to the beach. It was packed. Still we had a great afternoon, and hope to go again soon - if the weather cooperates.
Enjoy the picture.

ANOTHER GOOD LOCK
Last month we posted a picture of a great lock for our "sliding doors." Our Safety Team sent us the name of Cal-Lock. We checked it out and placed a couple of pictures for you review. This lock makes it very difficult to slide or lift the door when, obviously, it is "locked."
Many of us have a hurricane sliding door and you may be pleased to know that there is a lock with an external key for that door. It is pictured here and the safety guys say it is an excellent means to secure your house if you choose to use the door as your means of egress during a storm and evacuation.

R.O.M.E.O.'S CELEBRATED AT RICK'S PLACE
The local restaurant, Rick's Place, hosted the R.O.M.E.O..'S on Saturday Night. This time the occasion was not breakfast, but in celebration of the groups third year of existence within VeronaWalk.
In addition to a fine meal their was entertainment by the neighborhood Music Man - Jersey Joe. Naturally he played songs that were favorites a long time ago, and when he played "Jersey Girl, the Garden State gang roared with delight.
This was a good night and the place was filled. Hope anniversary number four is just as good.

CASINO BUS ROLLS AGAIN
St. Patrick got everyone on board this past Wednesday leading a gang of fine Irish Residents to the Hard Rock Casino. For good luck the bus was decorated with green shamrocks.
The group got a good six hours of "eat and play" time record on their Casino cards. At the end of the day the group relaxed and enjoyed the ride home.
As we left the Casino some could be seen raising their hands waving goodbye to their money.

SITES OF INTEREST
There are links to the "County Sheriff's Office," "County Appraiser," and the local "Jans' Knits for Kids. These sites offer information that may be interesting to a variety of neighbor's interests.
A problem with these links is that "Management" forgot to tell anyone the "What & Where" concerning "Sites of Interest." It is located on the right side of the Blog just above the local weather information. Take a look at it, and if there are any suggestions for additions let us know. Remember this blog is for family, friends, or neighbors.

BACK FROM JERSEY
Glad to report to friends and neighbors that Jersey is still there. First they tried to freeze it, then they tried to flood it. No matter what they did it remains - Same Old Jersey.
Well I got to run as someone is looking for a safety pin so he can go fishing with Dino - Our neighbor with the yacht.

BREAKFAST GANG TO HAVE DINNER/SHOW
The retired old men that meet every Tuesday will celebrate another anniversary of having breakfast together. This is the third such event, and includes the wives.
This year it will be at our Town Center Restaurant now doing business as Rick's Place. The date to mark on the calender is March 20.
Entertainment will be provided by our good neighbor known in some quarters as Jersey Joe. He has performed in the community in the past and always does a great job giving one a great reason to attend.
BRIAN ROMAN SHOW
It was a packed house or about 150 people present. The had a pretty good meal provided by Southern Accents, My eyes were only on the desert, and that was from outside.
I could hear the guy that performed. He did a great job. Maybe that's because he did several songs by Elvis. When he returns I'll pay my way, grab a dance with my wonderful friend Mary, and the save the last dance (and a few more) for My lady.
"CH. RAVEN'S SIR OSCAR
A neighbor and friend just let us know that their dog, Raven Sir Oscar, passed away this morning. This was a huge loss for our neighbors who were deeply devoted to this huge dog, who proudly walked our street and the paths around the Lake.
Oscar was a Champion (Ch.) in every sense of the word. He distinguished himself, as a very special bullmastiff, in the show ring, as well as in our neighborhood.
We share the sadness, but also the wonderful memories that this dog gave to everyone who saw him.

THE IRISH ARE COMMING TO RICK'S PLACE
The Irish will be invading our local drinking emporium on their day - St. Paddy's Day. That's Wednesday, March 17. Entertainment starts at 6:00 PM
The guy with the Irish tunes is our own Jersey Joe. He will be there with the incredible Molly Maguire that wondeful Irish doll. Joe always does a great job and should help make this a great Holiday.
Check for more information at Rick's Place.

WELL WELL WELL
Our Association Vice President, and Land Manager, addressed the concerns of residents and has given us the following: We have four wells that have been drilled for the purpose of water replenishment. One well is "on line" and pumping. It is currently pumping "all" the water necessary to replace only that water used for irrigation. That well is doing the job that needs to be done at this time. Mr. Hasty reported n regard to this well that:
"P-1 is operational full time and is at times pumping MORE than is being used as irrigation and thus meets our current demand needs."
Of the three other wells two can be put on line when and if needed. There is no immediate need to put these wells into operation. The last well is at a depth where it is in a salty base and that condition leaves its readiness in a questionable state. Mr Hasty stated on this subject that:
"P-2, P-3, and P-4 can be placed in service if needed, but with caution. If the salt concentration in our system climbs over 250, the water use permit prevents using all wells until it falls below 200. This effectively eliminates the use of P-2 and P-4 as their salt contents are both approaching our 250 threshold."
This is our understanding and it is shared with neighbors and friends based on what we learned at the meeting, and with conversation with Mr. Hasty. The Land Manager was well prepared on this subject and he answered questions as presented. It was an informative report. In the end nobody found the need to say: "Go Jump in the Lake."

TOWN MEETING
Our annual meeting was held last night. The room was at capacity. The call to order came a couple minutes after six from our Town Manager. She and our Board President ran the meeting, getting reports from specific vendors (True Green, Nappier Sprinklers, and Lake Management) at appropriate times.
Good news is in the financial area, reportedly, we are financially sound. It is anticipated that our reserves will continue to grow. Pulte anticipates that they will remain in control of the community for "several more years" and have about 600 homes to complete before turnover to residents.
At the end of the agenda residents asked questions on a variety of topics. They included: new stop signs (currently being reviewed by Wilson Miller Co.); Spanish Moss; Palm Trees (diseases and trimming); Irrigation; Water level in out lakes, Plant life Control in the lakes; and more.
We were able to adjourn at 7:40 PM. It was generally a good meeting.

FREE LUNCH
There is no such thing as a fee lunch.
Well V.W.Resident thought that way until he heard the call fro a freebie at Town Center for volunteers. It was a very nice event and good to see a lot of people present who pitch in during the year to do something positive for their community, and that' s no bologna.
